Ditto. Kroeger looks like he has it... talent wise. Thighs & butt of an KFC lovers wet dream.
Plenty of spots should be available.

Kroeger gives us more going forward than Menegola.
Sammy struggled at VFL, yeah he got plenty of the ball but did very little with it for me.
Foxy is playing the bigfooty version of kill, f***, marry for Flynn and the Sams. You can choose one option per player, kill career, 1 year fling, or 2 year commitment

Feel free to play along

The other one

The Eagles one we were talking about in the tk trade

OK..but those earlier post that talk about. another runner on the HB or the wing are confusing.

GCL mention heading down the highway etc ... and has confirmed he was talking about the Dogs BWilliams.

If Hawks are into rat and he doesn't want to stay.. Would swapping firsts with hawks for Rat be something they would do??

Hawks P3 for our P8 and Sav? ... This type of deal shows the flaw in the DVI system... on points its roughly 650 to 700 points ... if would say Sav is a pick in the last 20's...

but id say Sav might be worth more than a pick 28... but P28 is not enough to move to P3.

With the path the hawks are down I would say it’s 100% not going to happen.
There pick in the 20’s which gets pushed back anyway seems fair IMO
And like someone else commented likely gets swallowed up anyway

Fourth club joins race for Roo

If four clubs are into McKay ... I find it hard to believe someone doesn't offer enough money to trigger a Band 1 comp

Its hard to Judge who McKay would be most attracted to... Ess, Port, Swans, Hawks ... A couple of Melb clubs , a couple of non vics.

It goes to matching McCabe bid along with 48.
29 + 48 = 955 points
McCabe pick 15-17 = 1,100 / 1,025

Sam Simpson is much liked but he's not the future - doesn't provide what Geelong needs and struggles to stay on the park. Cold logic suggests he goes and possibly young Kroeger gets another year - after all L Macca has hardly missed game at Brisbane.

Menegola but neither will be here next year.
Lot of talk about who retires, who’s delisted etc.
My question is: I may be wrong but as I understand it we have two live picks at this point, Cegs and Smith are finished so how do we get all these extra picks to delist/retire/trade all these players mentioned in the preceding pages. Menegola, Rat, Touhy, Simpson etc?

Sam Simpson is the perfect guy to be our VFL captain for the next 5+ years

The Bailey Smith one is gathering a bit of momentum. Are the media looking for a story - or do we assume the likes of Barrett and Jay Clark (with good Geelong connections) are onto it? These blokes went early with Jack Bowes / Bruhn last year. And went very hard on O Henry once he'd had that discussion with Collingwood at his exit meeting.

One thing becoming apparent is the strong ties between Cotton On and Bailey Smith. Given the Austin families deep roots in Geelong (and with the club - as apparel sponsor) there's a few dots starting to line up. The AFL have already endorsed Smith's sponsorship arrangement with Cotton On as being outside the cap, so they can hardly change that position just because he moves to a club that has had the same company as apparel sponsor the last few years .... or can they?

My guess on this would be if Smith doesn't get to Geelong this year - it would almost be a certainty the following year once his Bulldogs contract expires.

Is our top 10 pick too much to give up for Bailey Smith? You’d think Dogs take that deal given he’s a chance to go for much much less at the end of next season

It’s spot on I reckon, they’ll ask for more though, probably a second.

Too much for me.... I'd rather swap our Pick 7 for their Pick 17 which would be lost on Croft/FS bid and give them our 2nd round next year.
They get 2 picks (7 & 11) under Croft' bid.
In the value index. It's 600pts from this year and another 700 pts next year. Equal to a pick 9 but not the same i know.
Allows us to enter '24 with Bailey Smith Pick 17 Pick 37 (port) Pick 80 & keep our 1st rounder in '24.
Bit of a pipe dream... But hey... we are all here to speculate.

Hearing the same. Will be here sooner or later.
Scenario maybe coming up is... They either sell at a 20% discount this year or get pennies on the dollar next year.

Assuming we rate Smith (which clearly we do if we are apparently in talks) then I'm sure we'd trade our 1st rounder for him if that was the deal offered.

Dogs may try to get more... It all really depends on what the vibes are behind the scenes with him and the dogs.

Do they really really want him or are they happy enough to move him on?

Time will tell... but I'd say that our R1 will just be a pick or two late to snag one of the real top-bracket kids this year so we'd trade it for him imo.

I would not be loving trading more than this years R1 though.

If we do snag Smith IMO we might as well go extra hard at Parish as a FA (maybe even Grundy) and really have another crack at a flag before Hawkins, Danger etc give it away.

Smith, Parish and Guthrie added to the midfield next year with the hopefully natural improvement from Holmes/Bruhn + with a ruck that can actually tap it to their advantage would surely have us as a chance... especially with missing finals and having a good long preseason.
