As we are now getting into the season and we are starting to get a bit more serious with discussion, seems a suitable time to post the following as it's repeatedly shown itself to be a value reference tool in trade & draft discussion

And as per normal, thanks to Lore for putting this together - always a fantastic reference tool

And yes this post is now stickied - makes it easy to keep track of (can easily reverse this though if needed)

Flight Risk. Loves the Pies. They love him.
He'll be gone in 2 years.
A bit like Ollie Henry u might say.
Ohh and before the pile on starts... It's a little joke to start draft day for me.
Like Xmas Day... can't wait to see what is in Box No. 7 lol.

I know you are taking the Pee one double five. but if we think we will escape some sort of response ..we are deluded. We saw Clark go... why not another if he struggle to find a spot.

So has anyone come up with a downside for Jhye Clark yet, except for the fact he isn’t 190cm tall?

Sign him up and enjoy. Good old fashioned proper footballer. Good at everything.

I go out for a meal... the menu has 30 options , fancy shemany stuff.. but more often than not I just go steak and pepper.

Sometimes you can get confused with all the options , all the trim and all the fancy words. When it comes down to I think we will pick the T Bone..

Maybe not perfect but we will be coming home satisfied.

Ginbey and Allen both sound like they will return to wa. I’d be staying clear of them regardless of talent.
Bit surprised to hear the late prospects we’re linked to, I really hope we draft a key defender late.

All the lat names we are linked to ... if we are going small Im not sure why would not look at Binns but one would think with the players we have brought in, we would go tall.

But maybe this is part of the change tableau of draft recuitment. If you draft someone tall..its bit like draft some from interstate. There is more risk..as they take longer... and more chance they decided to depart... Krueger for example.

The most important criteria imo ..is .. are they going to be able to play in the next two years ... and if not ..what is the risk factor. Still Id think if the right player is there just on or just under 200..we almost have to consider dont we?

Rookie Me Central, pretty much sums it up:

"The one big area for Tsatas to improve at the next level is his defensive running and tackling only averaging 1.3 tackles a game which is rather poor for a midfielder, but not uncommon for a pure winger. It is certainly an area to improve with pressure becoming more important with each year. Tsatas will use his speed with ball in hand but does not push as hard to put pressure on and it may come down to that lower endurance base compared to the likes of Ashcroft but you could argue Tsatas would be a more well rounded player winning five disposals less but averaging three more tackles per game."

**************

His contested game is fine, as he's winning so much ball...but it's the 1%'ers that he fails to do regularly, and barely puts in any effort to the defensive side of his game. He's an accumulator, but if he coughs up the ball (which he does with poor disposal a lot of the time) he doesn't transition or tackle to rectify that, most of the time.

These are the big concerns I have with him, as we just won a flag off whole team defensive transition running and fierceness in the contest - both elements that Tsatas doesn't have in his game, but Clark has in spades.

1.3 tackles a game is really poor, as he's not a winger, despite what rookie me has him labeled as. He's pretty much a full time mid for Oakleigh, who shines while the rest of the boys do the hard work giving him the ability to rack it up. Even if he does become a winger, without time and space in the modern game, he'll just be another Polec, Tenace or Gaff but with far shoddier disposal. During the real serious stuff (the Champs), he had 2 tackles in 4 games, which is just a sub-par effort for someone who is around the ball as much as he is.

With all this said, he does have weapons and good traits to his game...but I'm not sure we are a club who would pick him given the aforementioned - as the whispers are that he's a very 'me me me' sort of player, which is reflected in his defensive stats above. As a comparison Humphrey has pretty poor disposal, but he does the defensive stuff as well and has a really good head on his shoulders- so is a far more Geelong pick than someone like Tsatas.
Taataas sounds like Narkle defensively to me. A top 10 pick can’t be that poor like that imo.
Maybe he proves me wrong but one way traffic in this team won’t work.

Go Catters

I think we have plenty of midfield/winger types that need game time if not understandably they will end up leaving. There is plenty of potential on our list. Several of them were injured last year but look like a healthy bunch now.

Unless we get someone the club considers top shelf I would rather pick a key position player or get early picks for next year.

trade 7 for Bulldogs -11/21

11 - Busslinger - key Def
21- Barnett - Ruck/For

Busslinger & SDK together for next 12 years

Barnett & Conway can develop when Stanley retires & Ceglar delisted end of 2023
This is my ideal scenario. Kill two big birds at once.

Flight risk? You serious, he lives in Queenscliff🤪
LOL.
He is a Collingwood boy thru and thru.
The risk of fleeing to where his heart lays is what i was referring to.
I can see him drinking macchiatos with his mate Nick Daicos down Chapel street lol.
Oh and by the way if you read my fourth line you'd be able to read the room i am in a little clearer.
Cheers Bud.

I quite like the 2 kids with mullets, Cowan and Ryan; unfortunately they're not in our draft range.

I'll watch Wells this afternoon, fully expecting him to reveal precisely nothing. Will he target best player available, (likely to be Clark) or will he be thinking longer term needs? That, I suspect, will depend on how he sees the team evolving over the next 2 seasons. I suppose it's just possible he is seeing things very differently to how we see them.

I suspect Cal Twomey has nailed it but if, against expectations, an early pick swap should occur, then it's a whole new ball game.

Oscar Lovelock this year is also Sacred Heart and Glenelg and he’s one we’ve been linked to late.

Hes realistic to get to 58. Ryan will be gone well before that

Stephen Wells interview with AFL.com.au on at 1.30pm today. I’ll post some notes here for those that can’t tune in.

Thanks. Be interesting to see if he gives anything away.

Does that make Tsatas the 3am souvlaki of the draft?

Seemed alright at the time but you'll regret it later.
