Pretty sure they're the same height (obviously, minus the decade-worth of muscle growth).

However, Holmes doesn't have Dangerfield's manic attack on the footy, nor his ability overhead. Not a knock on Holmes - Dangerfield's kamikaze courage is up there with Kelly and Selwood, and the only mid-size players I've seen be a better mark are Ablett Sr and Jeremy Howe.
Holmes v Danger summed up perfectly. (We are super lucky to have both)

I'm surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for Foster - Saturday was the first time I've seen him play and for a 19 year old key forward I thought he showed plenty of promise. Some strong grabs, 2 (should have been 3) goals, including a huge roost from outside 50 near the boundary, and my favourite - a great piece of work below his knees in the first quarter, where he trapped a difficult ground ball then picked it up cleanly off his toes on the run and kicked it to a dangerous spot at the top of the goal square. That last play was seriously impressive for such a big lump - surprisingly fluid.

Based on the comments on BigFooty and from the commentators on Saturday, it seems he is very raw and games like this are the norm at this stage i.e. a few impressive moments with minimal impact otherwise.

I'd have to see more from him to have a firm opinion, but based purely on Saturday's performance I think he deserves another year at least to see what he can do. Seems to have enough to work with.
Maybe I just picked a few bad days by fluke, but the few times I saw him live, he seemed to have a lot of Richo-style tantrums at his team-mates when they didn't deliver the ball lace-out on his chest. Lots of shouting and arm-waving and sulky grumpy body language which looked a bit childish and silly. Especially since as a raw and green KPF at this level, I assume some of this 'bad delivery' might have actually been his own fault - not getting into good positions or leading to the right spots, etc.

I remember thinking that sort of stuff might count against him if it was a 50-50 decision on keeping him.

Said before I’ve done a complete 180 on Foster. Still a long shot to getting regular senior football but if anyone can develop him it’s us. Go back 3 years and some of the thoughts on Shannon Neale, this guys a throw at the stumps but 1-2 more years should be a given.

Yeah may as well give him ago when we're not hard up for list spots but what I have seen of him looked pretty delistable.

Neale I thought showed a lot more early

Key forward is a tough role in the VFL too. I think seeing Hawkins at that level highlighted to me, it is unrealistic to expect a key forward to dominate like how a young promising midfielder would.

Very messy games. Seems to have got worse over the years, combination of improved defensive systems/professionalism but no improvement in skill level to overcome them at that level?

Would be very surprised if Bulldog's say anything (or Bailey Smith) today as Tom Morris hinted at. The club has known for most of this season that the player is most likely out the door - yes, the meeting might confirm it - but I'd doubt anything will be coming from the player.

It's 2 weeks before Geelong plays in a Prelim Final so I think it's unlikely anything formal gets said in that time. If we get beaten in that game then it will go into overdrive and the media will froth.

Barras and Battle nominated Hawthorn while they were still in the finals.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of statement today - whether that's us or Hawks or 'highest bidder'....

Needs to improve his athleticism if he’s to make it.
He’s slow and lacks acceleration and has the turning circle of the QEII.
He’s a good mark and can roost a ball but that’s not enough to make it in the AFL.
Another thing is when he’s having an ordinary game he’s MIA. Had quite a few games this year where he had 5 possies or less.

You might be right. I hope it's all quiet on the Bailey Smith front though. He's a "big name" in terms of his profile and social media presence, so we could do without the distraction for a few weeks.

He looks like he can turn into a brute size. But it's this, doesn't look like he has any pace or agility, and not sure you can get away with that at AFL level these days.

Wants to play more in the midfield
So he walks into his meeting today and it goes down like this.

Bailey - I wanna play more midfield.

Bevo - No you are only a flanker.

Bailey - Ok well I'm good to stay but now that you have put a line through me as a mid... I want out.

Bevo - yep cool that's your call... take it or leave it.

Nahhh I don't buy that... there is way more going on for sure.

media have been saying that he wants more midfield time you don’t have to buy into what I say. Just glad it’s over and we can move on from Smith

He has ability for sure but there are not many key forwards like him in the modern game. Casboult the only one maybe and he is a great contested mark which has kept him on a list for as long as he has been. Hard to make it these days if you don't have the athletic ability.
