Ask and we'll try our best to assist - so here's 2024 Provisional AFL Draft Order

As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

I'll also sticky this post to ensure it's easily accessible for discussion of our hypothetical trader

Also,

Happy to cop whatever heat comes my way but I’ve said a few times this was “done”. Can’t disclose the property as it was an off market deal and I’ll out my source. But this was done some time ago.

Players generally don’t walk out on their current club (with a 2 year contract on the table) unless their manager has a destination locked down.

Nice one (as usual over the years you've been contributing)!

Maybe I just picked a few bad days by fluke, but the few times I saw him live, he seemed to have a lot of Richo-style tantrums at his team-mates when they didn't deliver the ball lace-out on his chest. Lots of shouting and arm-waving and sulky grumpy body language which looked a bit childish and silly. Especially since as a raw and green KPF at this level, I assume some of this 'bad delivery' might have actually been his own fault - not getting into good positions or leading to the right spots, etc.

I remember thinking that sort of stuff might count against him if it was a 50-50 decision on keeping him.
I agree. On Saturday Foster kicked a great goal in the 3rd quarter from the boundary on the 50, then did a victory lap for the members and then went to head to the interchange bench. He was sent back on and looked to spit the dummy over it. I think at his age he is worth another contract but left the game thinking the spanner needed to come out in the offseason for an attitude adjustment.

Past Torquay and Jan Juc. It's a big area of bush and farmland. It's just past Freshwater Creek where Jezza lives.

To get to Bellbrae you go through Freshwater Creek then Bellbrae near the start of the Great Ocean Rd.

Depending on whether you take the bitumen or the dirt road you’d go past Jezza’s joint - and then past the Austin property. Founders of Cotton On. You could also stop at the Freshwater Creek bakery where Jezza gets his sugar fix.

Head back the other direction (north west) and you be at Moriac / Barabool and go past a couple of farms that Stanley and Hawkins own.

If he nominates Geelong i think we wend up doing something like this

2024 first, future second and 3rd
2024 first and second, future 3rd

Both of those may need some late pick swaps/haggling but seem around the mark

The most i see us giving is

2024 first and second, future second
Don't think we can afford to give up two picks given the number of players we are likely to need to draft and I don't think he is worth it. I am ok with our first but that is it.

Which one is the Austin property? Left or right side heading away from Geelong?

Oh yeah I remember buying sponges from Freshwater creek when I worked in Geelong.

Hi Catters, thanks for stealing Bailey Smith off us, son's crying now...

Obviously deal will drag out with pick swaps and stuff by the end of it, but just wanted to get a feel how highly rated Mitch Knevitt is? Is he an untouchable, developing nicely for you and not going anywhere, or could he be potentially included in a deal plus pick(s) for Bailey? I see he is contracted still till the end of 2025 so obviously would have to be ok with the trade also and looking for a fresh start etc.

Thanks!

Last time I was in that area I went via the Freshwater Creek Bakery - don't know if I got them on a bad day, but wasn't fussed on it

Seemed over priced compared with what I buy elsewhere

Mate that is absolutely mental without decent picks coming back our way. He is out of contract, never won a B/F, never All Australian, and coming off an ACL. I think everyone recognises the talent, but prospective payoffs don’t give a 1st and two 2nds in the now.

It's pretty clear, isn't it? They've got form in being absolutely horrendous to deal with when any of their players have the temerity to ask to leave. Dunkley was a prime example of this phenomenon.

So I fully expect the Cats to overpay exponentially (according to some on here, at least) to ensure that the deal gets done. And like a number of other deals that just about caused this board to entirely melt down when they were transacted, I believe whatever cost we pay will ultimately end up being absolutely worth it.

#stayclassygeelong

Hence my question.

They've got history, and they've had a long run in to consider their options and approach on this.

Wonder what they'll ask / do.

Knevitt is a local lad, a high(ish) pick, and developing at a really good pace. If he wanted to move, and that is super unlikely, a first wouldn’t be going your way as part of deal.
