Honestly not really. Just going on what I've read, and knowing that we really are going all in on mature agers in the past 5 years, I'd say he's definitely seen as insurance or better, in the case Conway doesn't work out. Rate the move over spending capital on other sub par ruckmen, if it does eventuate.

What I read he was behind Brn Teakle till he was drafted to North..

6ft 8 averaged 16.5 touches , 34 hitouts and 5 score involvements. Had a 61 hitout game during the season. Everything looks good to me. You know much about him?
Testing the memory but saw the EF/SF derby earlier in the year and recall him playing well , good ruck craft and moved well. Left footer from memory.
Took a couple of solid contested grabs in defence IIRC.

Cameron I think was the other ..

Edit ..

Renoldyson, OKeeffee Evans …start up …. then Cameron Hamilton to get P1

Shane Hamilton was looking ok there for a bit; David Cameron was ok too.
Losing Robert Scott and then Sean Denham in following years stung even more in terms of small forwards out the door..

The best part was Don Pyke going on SEN WA and saying they did the trade because they had already made a commitment to Baker and needed to get the deal done. He also went on to say Owies would be great depth and competition for spots in the best 22 is great to have :tearsofjoy:

That’s amazing. Can it get any worse? Trading pick 3 for a player out of good will and a depth player

Scott got us Brad Sholl; Denham got us John Barnes. Pretty sure Denham was always a rover, not a forward.

It seems to be almost forgotten here that West Coast is currently pretty much the dictionary definition of 'not a destination club'. This would look to be an absymal deal if you're sitting where we are on the 'destination club' ladder. If you're West Coast (who are making a fair run at the wooden spoon on that ladder yet again this year), I can see how you arrive at this list management decision. It's far from ideal but everyone has to live in the real world.

Unless you're the Dogs and you're contemplating receiving a return on Bailey Smith exiting the club, I guess.
They may not be as attractive as some at the moment. But WCE will never suffer from this in the same way that North, St Kilda, GC etc. do.

There will always be the odd Victorian player that wants to go home due to Western Australia being so far away from everything. But they are one of (if not the) richest club in the country who have a stranglehold over a 2-team city. It's similar to Adelaide, who have been mediocre for a while yet still have people wanting to go to them.

Serious Xanex requirement here
I still think Smith and Oliver could get over the line at deadline
Too much believing in what club officials say
They are posturing
We may yet send Smith to ND and get him with our second rounder.
Grab Oliver at deadline
Hold on for another 29 hours or take anti anxiety relief lol
That's the only hope we have to land Oliver. F1 for Oliver 17 to Dogs for Smith. That or Mackie is off his meds, would Mackie seriously not blink first in this instance?

Owies will be there best forward besides Waterman, quite comfortably best 22, no competition for spots because they are absolute shit

Lmao west coast eagles board posting Liam Bakers managers phone number in trade thread. Unhinged…. Also what does he have to do with the trade
Isn’t that considered doxxing 😳

Agree, and Pyke needed to come out and say something along those lines to try to sell the abysmal trade as a positive to the fans that are ready to torch the place. The interview was as much of a train wreck as the trade itself

Remember - Pyke is the failed Coach and mastermind of the infamous Crows Camp fiasco.
He may be a better Administrator than Coach but time will tell.
The whole Club is at a very low ebb at the moment , they have also brought Worsfold back into the fold.
Eales will be an interesting watch over the next few years.

Oliver for FI + pick 17, Smith for zero zilch nothing bugger all in the draft.

In today's culture, I actually believe there are plenty of young players who've grown up on the east coast who would prefer North or the Saints over heading west. It's not like the Weagles are tracking any better than those clubs right now, either.

And if you're contemplating a move to either Gold Coast or West Coast at this point (without a 'go home' factor in play), I think plenty would choose the Suns over the Eagles as well. Climate, lifestyle, and proximity to everywhere else would be three factors that all appear to favour the Suns. And that's before you even consider their relative prospects for on-field success in the next few seasons.

Several players supposedly heading to South Australia this year originally came from there (or places closer to there than anywhere else). ANB, Cumming, and Lukosius all fit this description. So I would have thought that's yet more evidence that the 'go home' factor is playing a key role in plenty of player decisions regarding their subsequent contracts after first being drafted into the AFL. If I'm the Eagles, then, I'm making a concerted decision to draft/trade for useful players from W.A. (or who are sympathetic to living there) whenever I get a chance.

To a lesser degree, our club's approach in preferring Falcons has been along the same lines.
