Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Great to know our salary cap issues are finally over. Cost us a valuable draft pick last year but had to undo earlier shite list decisions somehow. Seems GWS heading towards a similar scenario this year.

But Suns players now accepting of being paid their worth and not asking overs to stay… and cash in the bank to attract new trade targets.

It’s been a shockingly bumpy decade, but players have finally bought in.

Add the GC population boom, the increasing junior AFL participation rates and our academy finally producing quality, the next decade should provide real growth & success for the club.

Yeah, but can he still play?
Would pay 500k a year if giants can stump up half his salary if he is still good.
Why would Giants do it? They got enough picks. Less salary cap pressure after recent exodus. Probably no need to do Bowes. Yeah, he still looks good this year.

What’s the go with Hollands

Hawks are keen from what I understand and he can’t get into that 22

any update on Elijah Hollands?

surely a 2nd or 3rd rounder would get the job done
I’d like to say no as it doesn’t make any sense to trade him when’s he contracted, not on a whole heap of money and there are plenty of ways to add points without giving up a potential star yet again, but this is Craig Cameron we are talking about here so clubs would be crazy not to ask the question.

Probably 450-500K is pretty good money for someone playing in reserves.

This is probably my most telling point to be honest. He has not exactly been a world beater and whilst he started the year ok (first four games) he has never set the world on fire. Being on decent money (should) set the expectations a little higher as the club wants more out of you.

Essendon has plenty of well publicised cap space, Hlowlands would be a guy i would target in a bang for buck, buying salary type of Jack Bowes deal. Although not in the same vein as the Cats style last year but something like a third rounder for Hollands and your second (probably not, looks worse when i type it out).

Salary cap from what it sounds like it not brimming nearly as much as it once was, the talent is now there to be rewarded properly. Any other guys who are contracted you guys would look to offload?

Flanders is out of contract and played probably his best game of his career, although not a position we need (Small mid/forward) either.

Do Gold Coast have a young KPF coming through who is intended as the 'Casboult replacement'?

Lukosius is best as the third tall, and King could do with a big bodied KPF as support.
They have Jed Walter the best key forward in the draft as an academy kid

Strongly built already

They’ll trade out their first pick as a result so it doesn’t get absorbed by an early bid

Not to mention they have another 2 academy prospects rated top 20 (not key forwards tho)

Theres a kid called Jed Walter whos built like hes come from stone

They also have Chol in the 2s who has shown capable at AFL level

Hard to find guys truly as strong as Hawkins, Casboult, Walker etc. As a few mentioned, Jed Walter will be in half a decade. But before then, our best bet is Chris Burgess (not best 22) or Brodie McLaughlin (not massively built, but ~90kg).

Real question is whether they can get enough points through trading a few players to move their top pick into next year. I'd love to somehow get back into the first round with a decent pick somehow
Whilst I'd love to move our first into next year, I think we'll trade our first pick this year for a player, or convert it into picks further back worth more points combined.

We won't be salary dumping this year, there's no need - especially for reasonably low paid players. Hollands and a 2nd for a 3rd is absolutely not happening - we need points for academy picks.

Suns fans what is going on with Hollands this year? In the AFL side early in the season looked to have totally lost his speed and was just running around on a wing clocking up kms not getting involved. Best position in juniors was an inside mid/half forward. Just out of form or injured>?

Didn’t want to read further up the page?
