Ah come on Vinnie boy was sucking a fair bit before he got moved to a HFF. And I'm a Bernie fan. He just didn't take things seriously. When he got moved on he suddenly realised there were consequences in life and it turned his career around
Bernie before he was traded was averaging 20 possessions a game for his last 2 seasons. The last year was not as a full time mid.

That's not too bad considering his time in the middle and how well he uses the ball.

With a new coach that utilitised his skills he could have blossomed just as some of our other players did.

"Not too bad" isn't good enough for a lad of Bernie's talent. Infects the whole club when your most talented are just coasting on their laurels. See: Port

Hang on. Didn't he win a Showdown medal once and maybe was our best player for one year?

So the ability was never questioned. Perhaps the kid just needed a good coach to extract consistency out of him.
Not as though he was by any means someone who only showed potential before being scared into action.
He produced a hell of a lot more than a lot of our keepers. And he bled for this team.

I voted him the hardest little prick in the league the year he won his BnF. KId took enough of battering for an entire side that year.

Good
It's over
Didn't have a massive game but Atkins was just so clean when he had it. We were very wasteful overall and his composure and ball use was a welcome relief
Betts and McGovern excellent
Lyons steady
Tex's mark in the first quarter. Then for a long time he did nothing... until the last two minutes!

Bad
Eddie tried another left foot torp - not quite as good as the last one!
Luke Brown looked very vulnerable one on one.
Our defenders marking was a massive strength a few weeks ago and helped springboard many attacks but has dried up recently
Kicking out of the backline early when the heat was on. Tried to be too precise and control the ball. Just need to keep it simple early - basic, tough, finals footy. The skilled, pretty, short passes and link up handball can come once the game has settled down.
Brad Crouch a shocker
Our inability to stop their run from half back and from stoppages

Ugly
When the game got a bit heated we lost focus, gave away free kicks, argued with the umpire, gave away 50m penalties, got involved in scuffles. Haven't seen that since the Kangaroos game in Round 1.
Smith was starting to play really well when he went down :(

Pug Fugly
Apparently our players have to solve a Rubik's Cube whilst underwater in a straitjacket to pass their concussion test so it might be season over for Brodie :(

Screw him. May as well still wear his guernsey, absolute peanut.

Not convinced people should be allowed to so quickly jump into the media after retiring. Not enough separation to form objective opinions. Bit like an ex-player with coaching ambitions should have some separation to his ex-club by doing his coaching experience elsewhere.

But I guess they're cheap, easy hires compared to expecting class journalists to fill the roll of Darcy and Ling's "I just love the way he goes about it" offerings.

As I said, he achieved 20 touches not playing as a full time mid. That's the coaches fault for not playing him in his natural position, the same position Melbourne has him playing.

Not reported but sure as **** the MRP will look at it.

Any way we can photoshop a Hawthorn jumper on him?

I have it on good authority that Sloaney is a really good bloke.

Our very conservative approach to injuries this year has helped us keep our injury list short.

Don't think we can win a flag with Thommo and McKay in the side. Port weren't good enough to capitalise much on their mistakes but Hawks etc are

But they were good enough to get us to 2nd right? If we don't win it then so be it but do you really think we push some SANFL players into the mix at this stage?

More than that. I'm quite concerned for Smith now. Let's be honest, he's never been the same player since he got concussed twice last year. Now he's been unlucky enough to cop a third concussion within eighteen months. The poor bugger might have to consider retirement to protect his health!

He didn't demand to be a full time mid at the time. Danger, fit Thommo, Sloane were ahead of him. He still had a fair few midfield minutes. Melbourne don't have mids of that calibre
