We haven't improved, we're a godawful mess of a team, and I think the only way forward is to persist with Himmelberg as the key forward and Crouch, Sloane and Keays as the centre bounce mids.

Come at me.
Sloane will be out next week.

Laird will be back.

Where to begin

- Midfield absolute hot garbage. Nothing about our midfield is good. Personnel, structures, skills, you name it. All absolutely horrific and not AFL standard

- Selecting Himmelberg was an all-time howler that a lot of unpaid, amateur football observers correctly identified before the game

- Playing high draft picks out of position. Pedlar up forward for the entire match, he's a burst midfielder! We are ruining his game by playing him there. Cook for large chunks in defense too. Mind numbing rubbish

- Our skills are deplorable and we haven't put any time into these at all over the off-season. We miss 5m handballs under no pressure.

- Forward structure is diabolical. The midfield cannot kick it to our forward's advantage

- Did I mention our midfield? We aren't making any genuine steps to improve it. We will never, ever improve by playing Sloane, Keays, Crouch and Laird (when he returns) in there over Schoenberg, Pedlar, Berry and whoever else for the majority of the match

- O'Brien is a bad player when he is ineffective around the ground (which has been for every minute he has played in 2022)

Well, pretty bad day at the office. I only just started watching after that siren thing, looks like I missed our best stuff.

Some positives might be Dawson played a lot better. Schoenberg sorta got back to himself by the end of the game.
Doedee was good all game.
Thought ROB more than broke even.
No injuries.
Our stats dont look that bad. Still got a lot of the ball, a lot of inside 50's, were winning contests when I looked lasts, disposal efficiency.

Bad or worse stuff:
Our system, whatever it is or is meant to be, its getting badly broken down.
Why do we often end up with small defenders on talls? It seems to happen to us at four or five times the rate of other teams.
Unforced mistakes, mis kicks, handballs etc.
Umpiring was ordinary for a while there in the middle of the game, knew it was coming though.
System out of the middle is bad, getting killed by their midfield.
That'll do.

Crouch should be treated like a top up player, SANFL only unless we lose half the squad to COVID, he's beyond substandard. Short handpass to a pressured player, backwards kick, and a jog the speed of treacle are all he has.

Sloane should be packed off too, and given a fairwell game at the end of the year, as soon as Laird is fit.

Our midfield from now on should be Laird, Keays, and a rotating cast of Schoenberg, Rachele, Pedlar, Soligo, et al.

O'Brien can't kick, can't handball, isn't taking marks, and is getting belted in the ruck, what's the point to him playing? Try Strachan for a stretch.

Himmelberg and Fogarty are done, off the list at the end of the year. Not up to AFL standard - and before anyone talks about the delivery, Collingwood did let us have more than enough forward 50 ball and they did nothing.

Jordan Dawson right now

If i hear that we need to get back to playing "crows style of footy" im going to bloody spew. what is crows style of footy? because i have seen nothing of note coming out of the crows since the melbourne game last year. we are slow, infective and there is about as much hurt factor as marshmallow glued to a teddy bear. I can handle a loss, i can handle getting beaten but at least show me glimpses of what the team is going to grow in to. When i watched Brisbane games 5 years ago you could see something growing, this is the same as sydney and now collingwood. we hear there is growth development in the team and all this BS but where is the growth because it looks like a regression to me. Nicks has a long road ahead of him and im sure VB and Burns are questioning why got on board with this shipwreck.
