We've just got so many players who've massively stangnated and it's an absolute killer. Schoenberg, Jones, McHenry, ROB, Fog, Berg, they've all been given games and are supposed to be hitting that spot where we can start to expect a more consistent performance from them and they've just hit a wall or regressed completely. That's been the biggest killer for us so far this year and why it's gonna be hard for us to get outside the bottom 2 the way we're currently looking.

Like realistically, we can love his pressure and endeavour all we want, but what good is a McHenry if he's not creating goals, gets 12 possessions and gives up half of them the other way, either through turnovers or giving up free kicks? Schoenberg's skills have turned to absolute mush as well. Even someone like Doedee, I'm struggling to see him being anything more than a solid 3rd tall currently and certainly doesn't look as good as he has in the past.

If i hear that we need to get back to playing "crows style of footy" im going to bloody spew. what is crows style of footy? because i have seen nothing of note coming out of the crows since the melbourne game last year. we are slow, infective and there is about as much hurt factor as marshmallow glued to a teddy bear. I can handle a loss, i can handle getting beaten but at least show me glimpses of what the team is going to grow in to. When i watched Brisbane games 5 years ago you could see something growing, this is the same as sydney and now collingwood. we hear there is growth development in the team and all this BS but where is the growth because it looks like a regression to me. Nicks has a long road ahead of him and im sure VB and Burns are questioning why got on board with this shipwreck.
Think we might be seeing crows style worry worry worry

Where to begin

- Midfield absolute hot garbage. Nothing about our midfield is good. Personnel, structures, skills, you name it. All absolutely horrific and not AFL standard

- Selecting Himmelberg was an all-time howler that a lot of unpaid, amateur football observers correctly identified before the game

- Playing high draft picks out of position. Pedlar up forward for the entire match, he's a burst midfielder! We are ruining his game by playing him there. Cook for large chunks in defense too. Mind numbing rubbish

- Our skills are deplorable and we haven't put any time into these at all over the off-season. We miss 5m handballs under no pressure.

- Forward structure is diabolical. The midfield cannot kick it to our forward's advantage

- Did I mention our midfield? We aren't making any genuine steps to improve it. We will never, ever improve by playing Sloane, Keays, Crouch and Laird (when he returns) in there over Schoenberg, Pedlar, Berry and whoever else for the majority of the match

- O'Brien is a bad player when he is ineffective around the ground (which has been for every minute he has played in 2022)
Schoenberg needs to continue to play mid no doubt , on horrible touch with his ball take and disposal but needs to work thru it

Unfort Pedlar is a mile off physical condition to play more than pinch hit and it will affect others

Having seen him today I think he needs to play high mid minutes in sanfl and build his fitness and craft there , no point playing him forward at sanfl level like they did last week

Playing him forward now is a disservice to his development

Berry - I don’t think he’s a good enough ball winner in mid , I’d give Hately a sink or swim block of games

Was v happy with cook today

Play players in the position they’ve been recruited for. Get Pedlar in the middle. Got to get Sloane out of the middle. Play Jones on the wing or move him on. Put Laird back in the BP when he returns. Get McAsey in or get rid of him. Get rid of Himmelberg, play Thilthorpe. Play talent. Don’t play guys that can’t kick.

In 2015 - seven years ago - we lost the best midfielder in the league and we've had no visible strategy to fix it, bar "organic growth". Even in 2017 our midfield was average. We're now in the third year of our publicly stated rebuild and our starting midfield is basically the 2016-2019 failed midfield, with Brad Crouch swapped out for Ben Keays.

Blame drafting, trading or development, but it's unforgivable.

Good: we only lost by 7 goals

Bad: foot skills and handball skills were dire

Ugly: these on paper were 2 of the more 'winnable' games..the next 6 weeks could be awful for the team morale if they cop big beatings. Its looking like a long season

We will probably be competitive at home but away just sends shivers down my spine.

Apparently VB coached West Coasts midfield - that means he cant be that bad - apparently

If you think you are still in development mode ( which by all evidence the club thinks we are not) then you give more time to those you think will be in your future plans while slowly rotating older players out.

Of the 4 mentioned I like Keays to stay in and to rotate the youngsters in as required. Give Sloane, Laird etc less CBA and develop midfielders

If that means noses get out of joint then too bad.

The Himmelberg selection is symbolic of what infuriates fans, even more than that result.

Because the Himmelberg selection is a red flag that they might not know what the **** they are actually doing.

Berg is not going to play as badly as that every week (although he’ll give playing that badly a red hot crack, he’s two on the trot now).

He will kick goals and take marks occassionally.

But the type of player he is, he will always, always let you down on the big stage.

Jenkins was this exact type of player btw, and he was a lot better than Himmelberg.

So it isn’t even really about what Himmelberg is now. It’s about being able to identify things about players in advance.

When you know, you know.

And it appears they do not know.

I cannot see how Tex and Laird fix the crapola I saw today?

Sloane - yuk.
Shoey - yuk.
Himmelberg - yuk.
Jones - yuk.
Fog - yuk.
ROB - yuk.
Rowe - yuk.
Playing Pedlar all game up forward - yuk.

Yuk yuk yuk.
and so what if they do fix it this season or next. Laird and Tex wont be there when we are pushing for finals. we need the younger players to show something besides wetting the bed.

Wasn't much good, considerable bad and an awful lot of ugly

Rachele on ball in the last 1/4 was good.

Butts was great on Elliot

Dawson's kicking is beautiful

Other than that not much else.
The kicking and fumbles directly lead to us missing out on opportunities to score, not scoring a goal or turning it over that resulted in a goal for the opposition
