There obviously there gonna be nice they’ve just won the premiership

I honestly was expected to get abused and was pleasantly surprised.

End of the day this game could have gone either way really.
You guys have so many weapons forward that I was seriously worried.
It went against you this year but Jesus Brisbane have a great side and I’m sure there are flags on the horizon for you guys.
Genuinely well played and hope to see you again next year.

I feel for Brisbane. 8 out of the last 11 grand finals have been won by teams whose home ground is the MCG.I wonder how the game would have gone if it was played at the Gabba. When Collingwood play at the MCG it is anything but a neutral venue.

Pies earned the home ground advantage for this GF anyways though. Congratulations premiers.

Even if we did play the grand final at the venue of the top seed it would have been at the MCG

Just popping over to pass on my commiserations to you guys. As a youngster my aunty bought me a Brisbane bears doll so I've always had a soft spot for you guys. Even with dad being pies I was still going for you guys today. Heads up and back to the drawing board for next year. If there's anything that keeps me positive about North it's Brisbane's progression over the years under Fagan. Shows things can change quickly. Hope you guys go one further next year (if north don't haha).

I was proud of Ryan Lester today. He never stopped trying.

Crikey.

Dodongo's gone full giving the boys a spray after the game.

Mind you there's some there I agree with.

I just felt we didn't have the same gusto we often have ,on the back foot from the start. Shorter break ,hot day , never played in front of this sort of crowd before ,our energy levels weren't where they could be. Lachie looked tired , he's had a big week and a short turnaround from Tuesday morning.

In hindsight we were up against it a bit. It was a really tough effort to hang in there and nearly pinch it with quite a few players down.

I felt we didn't take risks when we could've and had a bit of momentum. Maybe we didn't have it in us. On the other hand they were world's champions on taking risks when the opportunity arose and really shutting it down when they had to.

This was with a Rayner behind the ball too. A lot of poor defensive lapses today unfortunately + getting panced in the middle. Sub needed to be called earlier.
Rayner behind the ball just gave them the extra man to link up n run or kick to our def50 to easy. You can't just wait for them to come to you thinking the extra man back will help, not against the Pies. Needed Rayner fwd, need the number even to pressure, try to force the error. Fagan did this with Gunston a few times during the season for no success, why thinking it would work with Rayner especially against the Pies blows my mind.

So basically, Hipwood also lost his direct opponent early, he really should have been a difference between the teams and while he certainly was, unfortunately it was for the other team. He really did have an all time shocker and I don't really know if a player can come back from that. To me, this is the real worry.

That was a critical mistake and obviously a preconceived tactic that totally backfired.

We virtually gave them the clearance but Rayner coughed it up 3 times as I recall for late goals.

Whether it was the wrong man or the wrong tactic I don't know but Rayner should've been around the stoppage where who knows he might've turned it our way.

Commiserations guys. That one hurts but ultimately I didn’t feel you guys played your best footy for long enough today and maybe had too many of your best 22 down. I think next season an injection of speed and maybe another year of maturity and you will be challenging again.

Proud, but gutted.
I think we have every right to be proud. I was super impressed with Coleman, Daniher, Cameron, McCluggage, Dunkley, Neale, Lester, Andrews, McInerney and Bailey.

Jasper Fletcher will be better for the experience, as will Wilmot. I would like to see Tunstill get a solid run on the wing next year and also see Fagan seriously consider if Jarryd Berry is a walk up start for a game. We made the Grand Final and only lost by four points. We had a ‘winning season’ and certainly dispelled the notion that we can’t play the MCG.

I look forward to 2024, because next year we are going to be the big REDEMPTION STORY of the AFL.

Havent seen any Collingwood posters in this thread so apologises if I am intruding. Great game today from both teams it has to be one of the tightest grand finals in a long time. Having read though this thread I would also like to say that the posters in this thread have a great perspective on what happened today. Has to be the most balanced responses from a community I have seen in a longtime. All the best for the future, you should be one of the favourites for next year being younger and I hate to say more talented then us

Dodongo congratulates you on the win. Dodongo also thanks you for your post.

Dodongo isn't as disappointed as Dodongo thought Dodongo would be with the loss. Dodongo sees a good 5 years coming up. Whilst Dodongo knows they played their hearts out Dodongo also knows a lot played more bad than good and Dodongo knows the players will learn from it.

Dodongo thinks Collingwood should have won by more than 5 goals so Dodongo knows the best team won on the day and Dodongo isn't blaming an umpire error late in the game.
