Is there nothing on at the MCG after the presentations this year? Isn't there usually an after party like the one they used to have at Punt Rd?
caesar88 can take you to this if you’re game. Say hello to Paula Condell for me in Küntsquad. Be kind to her though, she’s a Carlton fan

Sucks for Mills but somewhat of a relief they made the hard call. Distraction gone. If it was 22 Mills you'd have to seriously consider, but he was never going to suddenly flick the switch and be that player on Saturday, he found better form late but it wasn't far enough in-front of what Fox or Adams would bring to justify taking the risk. I suspect there's a few others playing very sore we don't know about so we don't need this risk on top of those.

Despite Mills being out we will never have a better opportunity at a flag than this, literally our only best 23 player missing, that's ridiculous availability - we just have to cash in on this, most Grand Final sides are still at least missing 2-3.
I would seriously consider Fox into the starting side though. I'd assume we go with the same side now but have a weird feeling they may actually bring in Adams.

Now we're 1100 posts in time to check in.

In '21 I had to wait a fortnight for the Dees GF which felt like an eternity. This week already feels like it's taken an age.

I believe time has frozen!

Any chance our fav 2024 midseason convert is coming along to the GF too?

Ok, I hope I'm posting in the right site. It's another GF week and it always brings back emotions. My dad introduced me to The Swans in the 1960's. We sat at the fence at The Lake Side Oval, Albert Park and I saw John Heriot lose his teeth on the boundary. My dad looked at me concerned what I saw, I looked at my dad and said, "This is my team". Never took a look back. GO SWANS!!!

I'm wondering who the matchup for Fox is that would bring him into the starting side? Assuming it's:

McCartin - Daniher
Melican - Hipwood
Cunningham - Cameron
Blakey - Ah Chee
Rampe - Morris

Rayner seems like the potential match-up? Perhaps they may try to play Rampe on him when he's forward, and have Blakey shift to Morris.
Be starting from the bench anyways so will have time on a few of those guys as they cycle through rotations?
Presumably covering Blakey and Rampe's work would be where he fits most though his speed might be useful to cover Hipwood despite being shorter and then run off him.

Assuming Logan is fine, for me the only remaining question mark is whether Campbell's groin is ok. If so, then I still think Fox and Parker win out, and Campbell is sub.

If he's not fully fit, then it opens the door to Cleary or Adams, but for team balance I'd be going Cleary. Though if it were Adams, I'm not going to complain.
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Campbell's groin. He hurt it in the lead-up to the Giants game. Played well as the sub. Then was sore again on the weekend.
Far more concerned with Campbell than Logan TBH. Anyone concerned with Mills' hammy should also be questioning if Campbell can get through the game.

Usually whenever I’ve lost my teeth I find they’re still in the glass of water on the bedside table but I don’t think that’s what you’re referring to here.

You have come to the right place. We all love hearing those stories. Welcome!

I'm wondering if horse and the match selection committee have become evil, moustache-twirling tormentors in 2024?

Firstly by making sure Adams has a repeat nightmare of missing a GF second year in a row when so close, even though no injury this year.

Secondly, testing Mills 110% to see if his hammy can endure in the big one .. which he passes easily with great hope & excitement ... but is then omitted anyway.

I'm now wondering if JJ will be made the sub and not get any game time ?

(note to all serious BF selection analysers here: above said in jest!)

I heard an interesting stat on the ESPN footy podcast, they said Brisbane are the number 1 team in sharking opposition hitouts, and that's with McInerney in the team. Expecting Grundy to dominate the hitouts as a big advantage might not be as straightforward.

Hopefully Grundy smashes the footy forward 30 metres all day long.

i really dont understand this idea that grundy will dominate in the ruck. he hasnt really dominated anyone in the ruck for a long time. what he is great at is becoming a hard tackling ball winning midfielder if the ball hits the ground in his vicinity.

He just isnt the guy who cant jump over another ruck. everything simply becomes a wrestle which means it becomes far more random. Healy said the other day that hitouts to advantage run at 13% across the league - id be amazed if grundy does 15% to advantage this weekend
