No training yesterday and they were forced to watch the GF , that's good
Should make them pay $495 each to watch it but make them watch Katy Perry first so they can have some sort of understanding what supporters had to endure for the day.

Then tell each & everyone of them that it is unlikely they will be a walk up start for most games in 2025 so they can feel some sort of anxiety for the next few months.
That may give them an idea how plenty of supporters have battled since that sh. tfest.

Mathew Lloyd commented on vision he saw of Emma addressing the players at halftime of the GF Call me old fashioned, I find that quite bizarre. Halftime on the biggest stage, and you’re staring down the barrel is no time for a pat on the head and a tummy rub. And she’s still on board? Hopefully Emma also makes changes re how she goes about it
I'd bring out a whole range of potato varieties & ask each player which type of potato they can best associate with after watching their own efforts.

YEP....................................I'm still pissed off!

I couldn't love this post or agree with it more Ted. You should be the team psychologist!

There is one undeniable factor that suggests feelings of anxiety are not a thing

I was starting to move on a bit with a new coach, draft and pre season , don't worry it was shocking , gutless , but we must move on . So Ted enjoy your doom and gloom
I need the season to start so I can see the players plying their hardness against other AFL footballers rather than ropes at training. They left their mark on me the last time I was invested in them with doom & gloom Bedders , but they are now hard to be trusted.
I’m liking what Cox is doing but he is on a hiding to nothing with some of these guys.

Result aside, what really sucks for me is that you now forget and can't enjoy some of the great wins/moments we had this year.

The gws final would be up there as one of our greatest victories, easily top 5 for me. The comeback vs Collingwood with guldens late snap. Amarteys 9 goals v Adelaide etc etc, all count for stuff all now.

I personally felt a little mentally checked-out by the time those games happened anyway. I just did not get 'premiership team' vibes from this team at any stage after that second GWS derby in round 15. Ironically the only time I did, was during GF week, and that was only because I was even less convinced of Brisbane than I was us.

I do feel incredibly flat when I think about that four or five week block earlier in the season, in between flogging Gold Coast and flogging Carlton, and how much great footy was played then. And the first three weeks to open the season, too.

Thing is it wont even matter anymore how good our H&A season is the supporters know it and i think the players do as well.

This group is stuffed i think.

It's not what we do in the H&A, it's how we do it. Our season ended in round 15, we looked absolutely putrid from that point on.

said it elsewhere. But i'm happy to repeat it because I'm still so frustrated.

People were asking me how I felt leading into finals - people whove known i was a swans fan for years. I said I'm the least confident I have ever been about the a swans team heading into finals as I was with this one. A team that finishes the H&A (was it 3-6 ? I cant remember and dont want to) has no business having its fans having any expectations of reliability. But like ted the expenditure on an unreliable flakey team with a tactically inept coach (in my case nearly $1500 on family members, some for the fourth time in a row) just leaves with a completely bitter aftertaste.

I thought horse showed a complete inability to recognise how badly they were travelling and did nothing whatsoever to address the problems around the ball and forward of centre.

I think he was tactically naive from a long long way out (my views havent changed since round 0) and adding luke parker just made things worse not better.

Good riddance to the 2024 swans as far as Im concerned. I cant believe I keep looking at this website for catharsis.

I'd love to know Horse & co's thinking if they've decided to move away from having a Wicks type in the forward line. It would be a staggering approach to take considering 6 months ago we all watched Collingwood win a premiership built on forward pressure, with four smalls in their forward line. I could be wrong but in last night's game featuring two potential contenders, both sides had up to five smalls.

I understand we're going for a three tall set-up, and I'm a fan of this as I've made no secret of. (I'm with liz and others in not panicking because of a few games in conditions horribly unsuited to key forwards.)

But the three talls shouldn't come at the expense of any extra forward pressure. In fact the three talls will only work with the extra forward pressure. It just feels like we're going in the opposite direction to what footy in the current decade demands. Forward half pressure has to take priority over a rotating mid IMO.

Just my take.

I think the era of tall forwards has gone.

Football has 36 players within a kick of the ball occasionally 32. Tall forwards are necessary to create a contest for dump kicks. It’s the medium and small that can get up the field and back and then lead out.

Once the ball hits the ground as it does in about 90% of contests the tall players are a hindrance and the shorter ones dominant. The three tall set up has failed us again and again and arguably only worked when buddy was playing a free wheeling tall. 2014 was the nadir of a tall forward set up where Tippett buddy Goodes Reid were just too slow and we got burned.

Fox hayward and heeney if there can all play tall if isolated and can make a contest on the ground if they can’t.

McDonald and McLean is enough. And if one goes down amartey can come in.
