Francis and Ladhams as emergency is a little concerning. Maybe they didn't put Adams there so was no talk about a possible change pre game by media. You know they'd do it.

If we thought Adams was next in line as a small (outside the ruck and KPD we've also selected), he would be on the emergencies list.

In the selectors eyes he's behind Cleary, it's that simple. Either with what we think he can bring, that we can't get elsewhere in the 23, or they may not have been impressed with his reaction to being out of the team a few weeks ago.

Our emergencies are always:

Ruck/forward, tall back and a small forward or mid. If a tall goes down at either end we are covered. If a small goes down, we have enough mids and mid-forwards to rotate and cover. Cleary would likely be the sub in this scenario. The rest could cover mid positions better than Adams. In the coaches' eyes

Ladhams v Fort in the ruck if by some freak situation occurring would not be the end of the world. It would be a VFL matchup and as followers of the VFL know, Ladhams has had some games where he has absolutely torn it up. Imagine big Pete has to play, dominates Fort (as he is capable if doing) and wins the Norm Smith!

I realise this will sound condescending, but it is not meant to be.

One thing I was not looking forward to in the lead up to the game was potential negativity (we'll shit the bed again etc), but it's really good that in the main there has been a positive attitude throughout the board.

Sure some understandable wariness given our recent GF record, but any pessimism is well measured.

FWIW of all our GFs, dating back to 1996, this is the one I'm most confident about.
We finished top of the ladder, 10 points and % ahead of Brisbane, since the loss v Port we are P5 W5 % of 130.6, compared to Brisbane P6 W4 % of 109.1.
It sounds like they are fairly banged up, plus the Big O an out, whereas apart from Mills we are seemingly sitting pretty and in the 2 pt loss at the Gabba in RD 19 by the end of the 2d Qtr of that game we were without (either missed the game or were injured in it) McInerney, Rowbottom, Papley & Rampe (with Hayward significantly hampered & MIlls missing then as well).
Decent 'ins' from a 2pt loss.
