Training Great, Good and the Bad vs Port Adelaide

Just watching the replay and any time a Port player is outmarked they look straight to the umpire crying about a free.

I'm looking forward to going back and watching the replay just so I can laugh at the coaching genius of sending your best midfielder out there with the sole intention being to scrag Sloane rather than trying to win the ball.

Such coaching genius from Hinkley LOL

Doing this today along with when he tried to play Trengrove as a tagging forward is beginning to establish Hinkley as a football dunce.

SEN Insider Footy ratings:

Rory ATKINS – 5 Didn’t light it up as previous weeks but a good sign that his excellent wing play wasn’t needed in this game.
Eddie BETTS – 8 Four goals, four behinds and set up another four goals, not a bad performance after getting his appendix removed over a week ago.
Luke BROWN – 6 Didn’t really have an opponent to stop and zoned well to give his defensive teammates an outlet.
Charlie CAMERON – 6 Used his speed in the middle of ground to open up the Power and hit targets in the forward 50.
Brad CROUCH – 8 Fractured cheekbone one week, nine clearances and five inside-50’s and a goal this week. Tough as nails.
Matt CROUCH – 8 Leading possession winner on the ground and couldn’t get in the three best players on the ground, great team performance.
Richard DOUGLAS – 7 Seven clearances and seven inside-50’s, another Crows midfielder who dominated their immediate opponents.
Hugh GREENWOOD – 6 Playing his role in the midfield, does the things which go unnoticed at times, laid a game high 13 tackles and kicked as goal as well.
Sam JACOBS – 9 Won his third Showdown medal by putting the footy down the throats of his midfielders all game.
Josh JENKINS – 8 Made up for his sitter of a miss after the siren at half time with two goals in the last minute of the third term, and four for the game.
Alex KEATH – 5 Kept his place in the side and recovered well after conceding the first goal of the match to Justin Westhoff.
Jake KELLY – 6 Played his role in a defensive back six which only conceded 31 inside-50’s.
Riley KNIGHT – 4 Rotated between Ollie Wines and Robbie Gray, couldn’t stop them but was ok without being great.
Rory LAIRD – 7 Not bad when your back pocket wins nearly 30 touches a week and has the ability to hit the scoreboard when following his man.
Jake LEVER – 7 Reads the play as well as anyone playing the game, not tested in defence.
Tom LYNCH – 8 Ran Tom Clurey into the ground and was instrumental in keeping the footy inside the Crows forward 50.
David MACKAY – 1 Clash of bodies in the first term against Richard Douglas, Mackay came off worse for wear and didn’t return to the game.
Mitch MCGOVERN – 4 Last week he was the hero, this week he couldn’t get anywhere near it. The beauty of the Crows forward line, too many to stop.
Rory SLOANE – 8 Nine clearances, laid seven tackles had 10 inside-50’s and kicked a goal, back to his best.
Brodie SMITH – 6 Withstood the man handling of Monfries and played his role across halfback and on the wing.
Daniel TALIA – 7 Went off late with some slight hamstring soreness but did a great job on Charlie Dixon prior to that.
Taylor WALKER – 8 Set the tone early by throwing his weight around and kicking two goals in the second term when the game was on the line.

Matt has now only had one game this season where he has scored less than 7, and 10 games where he has scored 8.

Lulz, the SEN report on Ebert:

" Brad EBERT – 6 Surprisingly went to Matt Crouch instead of Sloane and Matt ended the leading disposal winner on the ground."
Now who were the multiple posters that suggested Matty Crouch would never get tagged because he didn't have "hurt" factor??? Ummmmmmmm:)

They know who they are!!

It's still hasn't sunk in that we absolutely smashed them, it was only our goal kicking that didn't see us surpass 119.

We smashed them in nearly every key stat.

We smashed their confidence.

We smashed their percentage.

We smashed them physically.

And we are ahead for once.

Love it.

Could the weather have been any worse I thought that freo game was bad but today was out of control

And to still win in those conditions by that much made 119 achievable on a decent day

That were truly crap, they aren't a serious contender

For all those not wanting to meet Port in the finals because we would lose home ground advantage... if only we would be so lucky, but unfortunately we will need to beat quality teams to win the flag, not pretenders.

Have you told Elite Crow Dougy was a "Killa" again today yet??? ;):fire:

I did like the Sam/Don presser but also Sam Jacobs on 5aa.

Sam mentioned this idea that the group are really focussed ( paraphrasing) ' we have been together for 4 or 5 years and we think we have something building'' from 5.22

Have never understood that view of Matt. But to be honest his kicking has improved this year much more than I thought it could.

Would have to be almost unbackable for the B&F and a good chance to be our highest Brownlow vote geter. - Not many other players in the comp would have handed the ball to the umpires as often as he has.

And if Brad has a full pre-season, I'm putting some money on him for the Brownlow. Tonight he gave us a taste of what is in his bag of tricks. (And to think last year there were those thinking we should trade him while his value was "still high")

I think he realises dougy is an integral part of the team, he did have some off games mid season but he wasn't alone

To win a flag a strong body like dougy is going to be needed, tough hard footy will be required against teams like Sydney Richmond Geelong and gws

Good: Acknowledgement from Pyke that while the win today was good, we still found ourselves down 50 points to Collingwood just a week to go. Still work to be done.
Also, importantly said we still have improvement in us & must improve or be overtaken by other teams. We are in a great position, but still plenty to do!

Monfries got a 3! Should have been a -5 at best.
I forgot he was playing he was so invisible... but he wasn't alone.

Should have just retired when he was suspended for a year.

Back in the game we played against Geelong in Geelong, I thought it showed how far behind Matt Brad had fallen - he disappeared while Matt stood up. But cripes he has made up that ground, quickly. And the big sign was a few weeks ago when after the Bulldogs game in the rooms he talked to BT and said how he was working on getting his outside game going.

While I may get a "talking to" by the Forum Admin, whatever brief allowance of brilliance is worth it....
