The only thing that can save us is if players can be successfully poached from the Giants without good compensation.

Question is? Who is going to want to leave now as the Giants are going to have a very prosperous few years.

Hopefully greed gets the better of a few of the boys and they leave for more coin otherwise we will be enjoying seeing Sheedy's head on the TV as the master who built this club from the ground up single handedly without any help from the AFL etc.
Clearly you recognise what a destination club looks like. Our goal will be to emulate what the Hawks have done in that regard, and in succes on the field. Surpass it if we can, a long way to go there.

Who gives a shit.

Other clubs have had years - decades in many cases to get their shit together. Priority picks, sides stacked with young talent - and from teams like Richmond and Melbourne, a continual pattern of wasting those opportunities on rubbish players. Gold Coast are proof that advantages from the AFL mean nothing. They put all their eggs in a few small.baskets with Ablett, Hunt, and some decent but not world beating players from other clubs, and tho their fortunes will.improve they are no certainties to be contending anytime soon.

GwS played the patience game, we're happy to cop a bollocking for 4 years and develop smartly in the meantime.

They're good, and good to watch. I don't have a problem with it

The AFL are aiming for a younger market and GWS is the ticket. It hasn't quite worked up at bogan city on the Gold Coast, but when you consider the "short people" lost Boyd last year and McCarthy and Treloar this year it is a remarkable vault of talent they have stashed up there.
They are way out west and they must go chasing the youth of western Sydney if they are to make any real inroads up North. There is no cultural inheritance like we have down here, but even that is waning in Vic?

I went to the EDFL grand final yesterday at Windy Hill, good crowd in attendance, but the one thing that stood out for me as i looked around and reminisced about Geelong's numerous inglorious defeats up there was how old everyone was. 90% of the crowd was 50+, it was a bald headed, sagging boobs festivus.
It was good watching some of the young kids who were there kicking the footy around during the halftime break, and the QTR and 3QTR time huddle reminded me of the old VFA.

Where were the 20 - 40 year olds? Football is associated with passion, emotion, excitement and dedication, maybe this age demographic doesn't have the dedication? Some small kids were there because the game is socially inherited within the family and the social bonds with friends who would rather follow the team than have a girlfriend or boyfriend? However, it was really a day out for the over 50's. GWS has none of the influential historical factors we have been exposed to down here for generations.

The rivalry with their inner city cousins has only just begun, my nephew is a mad keen rugby fan and lives out west up there, but it was all "Go Giants" yesterday, he can't stand the Swans! He went to the game, he wasn't a fan of Aussie rules until the "short people" arrived. Now the AFL must aim for the younger market in Sydney and hopefully create that same family cultural inheritance we have down here or at least we used too? It will take some time. Sustained success will get them half way there, but they are an impatient lot up in Sydney...a lot of fair weather fighters.

Fans down here are going to have to bite their lip for a while. I might be one of them if the "short people" knock us off in the Grand Final this year? Just the thought of that makes me wanna puke!

For the benefit of Mr Pea Tea....

lol at Geelong supporters not worried about this still drunk on a high of scrapping over the line against a Hawthorn on the decline. I don't think they realise that that the Cats very likely have to win it this year otherwise they might be waiting a long while for another chance.

Masochistic decision by the AFL and the other clubs to give GWS this level of advantage. I hate it, and I hate GWS more than any other side. It is incredibly unfair.

Those saying that GWS will only win one premiership or so in the near future are in denial. They have twice the talent of Hawthorn's recent dynasty.

And we're rapidly building a winning culture at our destination club . Feel free to stress about it all off season.

They might be beaten this year at the MCG (can't see them losing a Prelim at Spotless) but may well be unbeatable next year and beyond.

They would have beaten any of the other finalists on the form they showed yesterday. Lightning fast, precision kicking outside game delivering lace out to a star forward line, complimented by the kamikaze inside game of Mumford, Ward, Shiel etc.

Great to watch to be honest when they aren't torching your own team.

Since 1989 I don't think we've ever been more than 3 years without a finals appearance.

Might be more difficult to accept for a Dockers fan who had to wait 15 years just to start being regularly competitive and then watched them blow their chance.

To be fair, they have probably taken more bad pick/picks that left than they have taken stars.

Hang on a minute, if you think we are all the same person again. I'm Andy Krakouer's cousin and this can be confirmed on the Richmond and Collingwood board, just ask them.

I dont know who the other two PerthBoys are but they aint me that's for sure. If you have any concerns then please inbox me with your concerns in writing and I will respond in writing.

Thank you.

A never ending revolving door of talent, anyone decent who leaves nets them a first rounder or more, riverena zones etc

A factor people also havent considered is that even with their first round busts they are getting "overs" on the back of a piss weak NEAFL comp and their depth. Jono O'Rourke for example, done sweet FA for Hawthorn this year, cost Hawthorn pick 19 and 40 for JO and 43 in return. GWS made out like bandits.

I understand you need to set up a club for some sort of success when starting from ground zero, and the Giants have done a very good job at making the most out of it. But the concessions and zones have to stop. The AFL wants corp. dollars lets be honest, if they had any real interest in the game we would have a team in Tasmania, not a second one in a non sporting town like Sydney. Why should the rest of the comp have to pay just so these bastards can fill their pockets?

I urge Eddie to get back on his high horse about this and some other presidents around the AFL remove their balls from their purse's and back him up.

Geelong have all their eggs in the 16 basket.

Hope it works out for you.
