1st and a 2nd. Is that really much more than what Melbourne would get if he left through free agency in 2 years time? Is that enough for Melbourne to weaken themselves the next 2 years during a premiership window?
You'll get a 2nd and McAdam. Maybe an F2, I don't know

I have no idea what the club will offer or are prepared to offer. I'm really not interested in getting onto a debate over draft/trade value

It may depend on how keen Petty is to come home / or not come home

Who does Adelaide currently pay 1m a year to?

What would you want if a Dawson asked for a trade to Dees?

Think other issue is Adelaide are showing they are difficult to deal with at the trade table. As seen in the past with Lever, Rankine and Dawson scenarios.

Not a good club to try get into negotiations on a key player with.

Even demonstrated through the beating around the bush on spud fringe players like McAdams.
Oh dear .. you seem disappointed that we won't just roll over for a tummy rub while everyone helps themselves to our list

And when the shoe is on the other foot all of a suddenly we're 'difficult' to deal with

Give it rest

You know the garbage you posted, that's all in your head right?

We have already sorted deals for Jordan, Grundy and Harmes helping them to there respective clubs.

Meanwhile Adelaide want to play “hardball” on Mcadam because Dees say no to trading Petty?

Really?

lol .. you go get em tiger :thumbsu:

Seems to me the point of your previous post was all about past trading.

And now you've pivoted to trades this year

Excuse me while I just lol

Im not trying go debate his worth. Just saying I don’t it’ll be much more than what Melbourne would get if he leaves during free agency in 2 years time. And while Melbourne are in a premiership window I think that’s the best option.

really did jordon a solid by helping him get to sydney as an unrestricted free agent

And that's fair enough

I can remember going back 10-15 years and we'd get players picked off and everyone expected us to fall. But we'd often have a player developing who'd come in and fill the hole, until we didn't

Yep, example of the past and current show a consistent theme. Surely you are not struggling to see it, it’s fairly simple.

Once again, what would you trade Dawson for to a club while under contract?

Lever was one of the first deals done in 2017, how is that being difficult? We were barely being difficult about Rankine either, offered pick 5 from the get go

Wonder what you’ll say about ‘spud fringe player’ McAdam once he’s kicking 1 1/2 goals a game and providing a great aerial target for you guys next year

Walkers public comments? Telling Lever he can’t attend BnF?

If it was that difficult, it would’ve been agreed late in the trade period, rather than being the literal first deal completed

The way Lever exited was very messy - the deal itself wasn’t

Did you read the link? Talks about the bad blood / deal almost called off ect during negotiations in the weeks prior.

Admittedly it takes 2 to tango but doesn’t sound like it was smooth like most deals are for it to be in the papers as almost being called off.

Can’t see where talks were ‘close to called off’ in that link? That Collingwood stuff is all just media posturing, a deal between Melb and Adel was always going to get done, and as we know, they ended up meeting in the middle (two firsts for Lever + a second)

Both teams would’ve held off for longer if there was a genuine stalemate

I'm sorry, but the issue goes a little bit deeper

Mainly back to the time when the playing group made a commitment to each other shortly after Phil Walsh's death

Lever and Walker still talk to each other

I'm going to laugh if Adelaide loses McAdam for nothing because of their tantrum over Petty

Melbourne can't lose someone they don't already have, sure it would be kinda nice to get him but ffs we're not talking about Buddy or Daicos.

More than one first rounder for Petty. You don’t offer a bloke 1m a year and think 1 first rounder will do it.

Bryce Gibbs was 10 & 16 and isn’t nearly as close to being structurally as important as Petty
