Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

SEN WA’s Kim Hagdorn is reporting Freemantle are making a play for Ollie Henry. Im assuming this is why they are clearing out so many players. They would be willing to pay him a heavy contract only 2 years into his career. And obviously fitting in Jackson's contract.

Agree that's what they want. But it's essentially us saying we botched that pick 2 years ago.
I don’t read it like that.

I see it more like, we need to improve our worst part of the ground, after unearthing other options in the back half.

Pick 6, 24, Brockman for Eagles 2 and 26 makes more sense for us, but I don’t know if Eagles would even look at that.

I would like DGB to stay. However, we were ruthless in sending Croad/McPharlin to Freo to get Hodge and steak knives Mitchell. And neither of those two players were a mistake.

Hes out of contract and North are interested.

Id be thinking a third

He'd cost our pick 24.

He's going to play 200 games as a key defender for whichever club he goes to.

Not a need for us but.

Logue and Ben McKay is a great long term pairing for North.

If West Coast need to pick split with pick 2 to allow for a Jackson trade you would imagine they would offer pick 2 to Sydney for their 2 late first rounders. They probably have more room to move and more assets they could compile to offer the Demons than Freo. Even if they wanted DGB you would have to imagine Jackson is now their primary focus and any dreams we had of getting pick 2 are pretty much cremated.
Would they split 2 for him? If I’m the Dees and he is going to a club with 2 I am demanding that

We really need to come to the party on these deals, length and dollars to give ourselves a chance. Imagine him choosing freo over a Melbourne club, he is exactly the player we should be going hard for.

No doubt it’s what West Coast would ask for in order to let go of pick 2.

Whether we would pay that or not is truly up to how much the Footy department really think an elite talent mid is required, because that’s what I’m hearing we really want.
We can land an elite mid at pick 6 anyway. Clark, MacKenzie, Phillipou, Humphrey and Hewitt and 1 or 2 others have just as much talent as Wardlaw and Tsatas. Trading out DGB for a speculative player upgrade is madness.

Talk this morning was they might have to as they haven't used a first rounder in some time. If they got approval to use pick 2 however, then yes, if I am the Demons I am demanding that and next year's first also. That might be the sticking point though - AFL might not approve using both and you'd imagine that would be the cost.

That all said - you should be able to trade as many first round picks as you want like in the NBA.

Still not sold Flanders is the answer for us but i am coming around to it as it would allow me to incorporate more simpsons Gifs in to my s**t posting.

ned flanders homer GIF

Correct. A lot of impatience with DGB. It's going backwards to hand him back with pick 6 to get access to pick 2.

Not according to some I have spoken to.

Ahhh I had not followed that, certainly makes it very difficult for the Eagles

Not for me.I see so many red flags with Henry seemingly looking for the highest bidder despite having been in the system two minutes and unable to break into the Pies side... A side that's going to play in big games infront of unrivalled crowds over the next few years.

Simply not the attitude of a young player I'd be tying ourselves into a decent contract for. Smacks of wanting it easy. Players with that attitude go missing when you need them.

If he leaves Collingwood it will be to head to Geelong with his brother.

Freo are just having a swing.

Eagles could easily split 2+20
for gold coast 5+7 (rankine deal)

Pass on 5+ future second (19-21) for Jackson and take Hewitt with 7. Right now we don't have the bargaining power to compete with teams that will hold multiple 1sts. And that deal looks better for WC then dgb + 6.

Agree I like what he’s shown so far and if he hasn’t expressed a desire to go back to WA it be like admitting it was a mistake drafting him which I don’t think it was . I hope they persevere with him if he is not homesick.

Jackson likely heading home - West Coast could use pick 2 in getting him and Grundy likely to Melbourne as a result based on this:

So those wishing for pick 2, Grundy or Bruhn are having a bad week.
Yes we are, but it ain’t over yet. Far from it.
