Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

I like O'Meara and Mitchell, how ever happy to part with them. This combo just never worked for us.
It worked pretty damn well in 2018 (seems like everyone's forgotten?) however JOM never really kicked on and Mitchell's broken leg put a line through our season the following year. Worpel's decline post 2019 really hurt us too

Jai had a good season and Worpel has been struggling due to injury and form, but he is still the one that has a Peter Crimmins medal in his pocket and hopefully he can find that form again.
One has improved at a rapid rate of knots.

The other has regressed at a similar rate of speed.

There’s a very good reason why JOM and TOM have greater trade currency than James after the past 3 seasons.

Get on us for the spoon if Tom & Jaeger leave.
I don’t see us winning the spoon. We’re not the usual basket case who wins it. The team is heavily invested in Sam’s vision, culture seems to be strong and we have a competitive ethos; morale seems high. I’m not saying we’ll make finals but I’ll be surprised if we end up dead last.

Newcombe and Ward have already passed him. Worpel will be lucky to even be there when we win our premiership.

Mid next year (assuming TOM and JOM go):
Reeves, newc, ward, Moore ,
I/c: Maginness, worpel, …, …
*Meek/lynch 2nd Ruck spot, Cmac more mid time/fwd, Amon wing, assuming pick 7, (likely Clark or McKenzie) to be given some midfield time aswell, Nash can rotate through aswell if needed bigger bodies
Will expect lots of different combinations if we go this young way aswell

Just heard back from my mate at the Giants ( ok was harrasing him a bit )

  • confirmed decent deal including picks and players
  • players floated in deal would be happy for the move if proceeds
  • says he knows we are pushing for another higher pick ( didnt go into how or who from ). Thought this was pretty interesting go say the least
  • in his words trade is a 'good way down the track '

He reckons he will get back to me if anything drastic is going to happen
Apparently been crazy behind the scenes

Aggressive trading for picks is where our focus should've been for the last 3+ years.
Music to our ears!

I think Sam tried last year but there were no offers for Tom & Jaeger and Wingard & Broost turned down opportunities to be traded that would have gotten us decent picks.

I have no doubt he wanted to cut deep last year and bottom out this year but it didn't happen.

North want Sheezel at Pick 2 supposedly. If we can get 3, we're getting Tsatas or Wardlaw.
Won't be complaining. But next year, İT HAS TO BE REİD!! We are destined to have another Hodge type after ALL these barren years. I'd be happy with 5-6 wins İF I knew that it'll land us Reid.

O'Meara was our best player in the qf v Richmond then missed the Demons final through injury while Mitchell was the Brownlow medalist. I'd say (as a pairing) they had a good year, wouldn't you?

Tom's a four time Crimmins Medalist. He's had many good years. He was even pretty solid this year, finishing top 5 in our B&F.

But as a midfield pairing, they never won a final. 2018 included.

Just need to tank the 2 North games and we'll just about be able to assign Reid his jumper number
