Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Are people like Twomey allowed to release what info they receive today in terms of completed trades prior to 3pm?
I don't think so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but last year no major deals were revealed until the 6pm AFL trade show, with the AFL world saying deals can still be lodged after 3pm on the final day, as long as clubs have indicated that something official is about to happen.
AFL wanting TV ratings.

Like I said, I could be wrong.

Sam has yet to be able to attract any talent to the club.. He was active in calling coaches apparently last year to offer our players, no takers and also they leaked it to the media... This year all his attempts to attract players have failed,,, bit embarrassing..Amon only because we offered alot more than Port did.. Senior players very happy to leave... Wonder if he's got much respect in the footy world amongst coaches and players.
Can’t blame Sam, but the elephant in the room here is that the club has received shocking publicity just leading into trade season, and is currently under AFL investigation. Sections of the media and public are expecting punitive action (check the main board, some people are baying for draft sanctions, even the removal of premierships…I kid you not).

Whilst I think that’s all very unlikely, this is all still very raw and uncertain atm, and I could understand others not seeing us as a destination club at this particular point. Whatever effect it may or may not have had, it certainly can’t have helped.

Hmmm, I guess with Gunston, Mitchell and O’Meara (potentially) going, the next captain is locked in. Welcome James Sicily.

I still think O’Meara would have been a good skipper.

The big moments were the same time 12 months ago when we failed to move on the same players (it’s just most didn’t realise it). Now we are scrambling to get something respectable for our last handful of tradable assets.

We don’t need perfection here - 25 or 27 for Mitchell, 19 for JOM is okay - just need to not get completely screwed.
I agree with the strategy, and agreed with it last year. We failed to execute the strategy at all last year and we have had a couple of misses this year already (pick 7 the big one). A lot on the line today. 25 for Mitchell and 19 for JOM and i'd be content with the execution and pleased with the direction we are moving in (albeit a long road back but that was inevitable after half a decade of poor decisions).

I thought the benefit of trading JOM to GWS was to make the most of any reverse salary dump, and get a good pick in return, making it a win for us due to our good financial standing - slightly similar to the Bowes/7 Geelong trade but on a much lower level.

If Freo come to the party, we get market value for JOM which won't be as much, and we won't be utilising our war chest. Freo don't have the salary issues that GWS have.

So hopefully JOM chooses GWS. Manlove can be quite strong sometimes...

Was overlooked twice (for Stratton and McEvoy) when forum fans wanted him to be captain. Very happy with Sicily captain, with Moore, Hardwick, Lewis, Newcombe in leadership group. Poor playing group leadership has been a big issue since the 2016 decision to punt Mitchell and Lewis for nothing.

I still don't really buy that.

Not to downplay the severity of the allegations, but I don't think I've even thought about that situation once since the trade period started. Once Karl Amon signed, that theory of players avoiding playing for us was squashed IMO.

Amon was in the bag before this blew up though.

Part of me really wants JOM to stay - he would be a great candidate for captain and has shown to be a flexible player around the ground and up forward.

I’d think you can hold firm unless the offer is good. 40+ picks are worthless to us at this point, as I doubt we will use them all.

This post has every flavour of stupid. I feel dumber for having read it.
Please go support another club if you already dont

There has to be a correlation between dumb posts and the timeframe of 12am - 3am
