If Clarkson goes to Norf...

Does anyone follow? Perhaps Gunston makes the move in return for something.
Wouldn't think so, North's list gaps are our list gaps. They need players in that 24-27 range and so do we.

That's only going to the Gold coast, the most realstic question is can we land Essendon's second pick.
Do they have an FS or Academy player that they'd trade out their 2nd in exchange for points?

Tap the sign all you want, but free agency does not preclude the possibility of a trade. Yes, I hear you saying why would anyone pay for something when they can get it for nothing? But there is more to it than that. Would not be the first time a player wanted some return for his club on the way out.

He’s a 31 year old forward whose given us his best years and 3 premierships - there’s no value to be extracted here. If he wants to move on he’ll do so like Birchall and Smith did.

I have no argument with you on that score. But not everything is so black and white when you push the free agency card. Just sayin'.

I'd go close to anything but our future first for a pick swap to grab Wardlaw. Literally the perfect player for our midfield.
Post taken from our National Draft thread:

Why not trade a Future 1st, then?
If he's the perfect player for our midfield - are we hoping to get a better than perfect midfielder with this pick next year?

My meaning was Pick 6 + 2023 First for Pick 1. You don't want to do 2-for-1 deals high up in the draft, it doesn't usually add up value-wise. If the deal was Fut 1st + Fut 2nd + Pick 25 for 1 I would do it, giving us two cracks this year and likely making our season next year better again, devaluing the future picks we send. But North won't do that, they need talent to start developing now rather than rolling forward for value.

Ah, understood - didn't realise you meant 2022 1st + 2023 1st.

Yes we are desperate to get at least 3 top 25 picks. Same next year. So I am told.
“Could set up the young talent of the List for a decade”
Might take up the first pick for Bris this year, swap next years first and or hope we can swap 2024 first pick into a first for next year, then hope we get a future second for TOM and trade next years second and the pick we get for TOM into a high first round in the teens for 2023. Therefore getting at least five good picks (top 25) next two Drafts. How we get another 2nd in 2023 will be interesting.

In the meantime concentrate on FA and salary dumps.

Anyway, that is my take on chats.
