Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Shiels and BB leaving is a lot of leadership out the door.

Goldstein brings leadership and a calm head for the youngsters around the hot contest.

Reeves is still learning the craft.

Goldstein has been a superior ruckman for years and kicks goals.

Carltons last qtr of football should highlight how calm heads are needed in tight games.

BB would always float back and take the saving mark.

That wont be there now.

Sam Hayes from Port could be worth a look. Still contracted for another year, but has fallen down the pecking order.

Without seeing him play much, he seems a reasonably good fit on paper, as he young, but ready to play senior footy body wise and from his junior footy seems to be a reasonably capable forward also. Eastern rangers boy too.

POWER YOUNGSTER ON TRADE MARKET

PORT Adelaide's Sam Hayes could be a part of this year's ruck merry-go-round as clubs take stock of the big men available.

Hayes is contracted for next year at Port Adelaide, but rivals are aware he could be available as they scour the competition for more ruck resources.

The 23-year-old made his senior debut this season after being drafted in 2017, and played seven straight games between rounds five and 11. Hayes' ruck work stood out in that time, averaging 30 hitouts a game, and he has shown he can make an impact around the ground as well.

Port preferred Jeremy Finlayson in the ruck in the second half of the season when No.1 ruckman Scott Lycett was injured, and also used mid-season pick Brynn Teakle as well.
I watched a couple of his games this year. For a bloke who has done a few AFL pre seasons he looked absolutely spent in the third qtr. Could have been that he was playing full time in the ruck but not sure about him as an option for us. And we all know Port will want too much for him!

I'd really love Bruhn at the Hawks. Such a classy player. In my opinion his ceiling is very high. With him and Amon on our list next year, plus the best available mid we get with our first draft pick, our midfield is set for the foreseeable future. Albeit a bit young... but they'll grow and play together, and have our midfield peak at a the right time... which will hopefully open up our premiership window...

I’d love for that to be the case. But we’d need everything to go right for our mids for that to be the case over the next few years.

So much can happen. And the middle of the ground is one place you need depth.

Really only Melbourne can get away with playing the same 3 in there 85% of the time.

Wo

Won’t happen but feels fair
Giants won't need the extra picks, they will be getting in firsts for Hopper and Taranto and possibly more picks for Bruhn and maybe Hill.

Keeping 3 is a no brainer for them

H

He could easily play till 35, I see his game translating well to late career but he needs to play on the g.
He might, or he could be done in 18 months.

Hill is a better fit but Mitchell is a better player on a better contract and younger. I’ll pass, I would take a late 30’s pick before I would take Hill

I know hypothetical thread and all but talk of adding Goldstein just makes no sense at all and goes against the direction the club is heading. We have 2 young rucks who are developing nicely and an exciting hybrid ruck coming through.

But each to their own i guess

It also makes zero sense for Goldstein.

Any player out there under 23 looking for more opportunities? Hawthorn are sitting on a mountain of cash!

DOGS FREE AGENT ON SUNS’ RADAR

Western Bulldogs unrestricted free agent Jason Johannisen could be part of Gold Coast’s plan to inject speed at half-back as three Suns prepare to miss most or all of next season after ACL setbacks.

Thank ****. The links to us were genuinely worrying.

The reason we should go after Goldstein is the same reason Fagan went after Luke Hodge.

The same reason Simpson went after Sam Mitchell.

They bring so much knowledge to the youngsters and oozes leadership.

I wonder if Sydney had their time again they would have chosen Goldstein over that plonk Peter Ladhams.

Why did Mummy come back to play at GWS ......-talent !

Ruckman that are talented and can go forward and kick goals are very rare.

oh well we will see in a few weeks what the hawks plans are on the ruck situation.

Good. Getting trade value out of one player shouldn’t be the aim of our coaching staff and match committee.

I wasn’t trying to say we should be. Just that this would be taken into account when negotiating/considering his value

Mitchell and Hodge are two of the best leaders/footy brains in history. Not sure Goldy is that

Also the Giants too back Mummy through sheer desperation. They had no one else

He didn't average 1 goal a game this season, 22 games for 16 goals not really setting the world on fire up forward + he is 35 next season

Thoughts on something like this?

GWS get:
Pick 6, Wingard, Collingwood's first

Collingwood get:
Tom Mitchell and Hawks second pick

Hawks get:
Pick 3 and Tanner Bruhn

The bit at the end that said Port preferred Finlayson in the ruck in the second half of the season is telling.

It's a NO from me
