Autopsy Hawks v Swans

I'm at junior footy this morning and all the Sydney supporters are putting the boot in. Claiming that the Roughie situation has nothing to do with football, that it's no excuse etc. Hard to stay restrained.....very hard. I think I despise the Swans more than the bombers, words I never thought I would say.

I'm already there, mate. And I've been around for all of our premierships.

I find this shit racist

Have you tried hitting one of them?

We need to promote some of our strong bodied midfielders imo. We are relying too much on Isaac Smith when Sam Mitchell is tagged out of the game, and we'd do better to share the responsibility amongst some players who can win contested ball in the midfield.

Drop Hill for Lovell please. Lovell is already getting as much of the ball, and he is better in a contest. I would like to see Hill return to his best, but we haven't seen it for a while, so maybe a run at Box Hill is needed.
Howe shouldn't have been dropped. He's been in good form, and at least worthy of a spot starting from the interchange bench.
Upgrade Kade Stewart and play him. Might only be for a game or two, but he looks like he could contribute to the midfield as a starting forward.

A few points

Sydney are close to the best team going around and we pushed them all the way having had a week from hell and really not playing well. If we kicked straight we would have won. We've won some close ones - the penut gallery have written us off (a work colleague suggested that we wouldn't make the finals) but we aren't as bad as most people think and I think we know that

Since the Bulldogs game where they used Caleb Daniel on Mitchell - people have worked out it's probably not a good idea to let a prolific ball winner like Sammy go with a run with player (we don't seem to be calling it tagging anymore) Lewis Langford and Shiels have to fill his role and Sammy needs to be shuffled around...

We do now have a problem up forward - Gunston and Breust do their magnificent thing but we struggle if Rioli doesn't fire. TOB and Sicily seem hit and miss and don't seem to have picked up the Hawthorn just kick the ****ing goal mentality of the established forwards. To this end both Burgoyne (who has been struggling just a little since that bulldogs game) and Mitchell could be used in stints across half forward - hopefully they can kick a few as well as improving some very average delivery.

Oh the final point - Buddy Franklin is still the best footballer in the competition - his decision making and ability to win a game off his own boot are still there. We were privileged to have him, I am envious to see him running around for someone else. A bonafide champion who will be mentioned in the same breath as Matthew, Ablett and Carey when he finally hangs up the boots.

But Brand, Toby and Sicily all look like much better players than Shoey. I agree Shoey comes in but for Hill not one of these guys ...

They may look like better players but at this point they are not. More importantly not one of those players are at the stage of their careers that they can provide the structure that Schoenmakers hopefully can this year.

But why would you deny opportunities to better players for (maybe) short term gain.

"Better" players

Not sure what that's based on

You've always had a problem with shoey though - imo shoey offers far more than Sicily - crashes the packs harder, is also a good mark, disposal efficiency is better, prepared to gets his hands dirty
And far more flexible. For mine I would have shoe over Sicily - Sicily needs to work a little harder imo once he loses possession of the ball.

That's based on sitting in the comfort of the lounge room - those who attend games regularly like yourself obviously have a different opinion.

I don't agree that three plodders like Sicily, TOB and Shoey is a replacement for hill

In Sicily's second game he dominates and kicked the sealer after the siren.

Shoey hasn't had that impact once.

Anyway I don't want to bag any players but I rate Brand, Sicily and Toby as future stars and have never rated Shoey anymore than a average battler with a big heart.

Haters might be getting their jollies now, but when the AFL Giants are dominating the comp. very, very soon, they won't be so jolly.
Agree with this.
It's often written that all teams have their champions, but in grand finals it depends on your bottom six, well the GWS bottom 6 and beyond, are all 1st rounders.
What team is going to compete against that?

The issue is our forward line has no structure and falls apart when things go badly.

At this stage Sicily and O'Brien have a combined 0 goals in our losses.

They are both excellent prospects but at this stage Schoenmakers is our best centre half forward replacement prospect for the next two years at least.

Okay, the Hawks are going to be up there for ever.
Just as the Lions 2001 – 2003.

Two of the Lions wins were against Collingwood - the team that always coughs them up.

We are the only club standing tall against interstate teams!

Sicilys best games were with shoe in the team. In fact you can see him block for him in a few occasions

Going forward if the club are going to use TOB and Sicilly as forward targets they are just going have to put about 10 kg on their frames . Boys playing against men.
Truth is had they both nailed very getable shots at goal, we wouldn't even be talking about this. Both boys competed well in the air. Shame they couldn't convert though, they are both usually reliable set shots.

I just really hope you didnt boo them. Because Sydney can do and say whatever they want and we just have to shut up and cop it.

Or else we are racist.

Sicillys goal kicking has dropped right off since the dogs game., anything more the 30 mtrs out and he is missing, he and TOB don't get much of the ball and to miss the few shot that they get just really costs the side . Bruest was a woeful kick at goal early in his career so these guys will turn it around as well., they are on a steep learn%ing curve this year and they need to get better at everything now that rough isn't coming back this year. They have to bring the ball to ground if they can't mark, they have to become defensive beasts when we don't have the ball , they have to stop their direct opponent driving the ball out of our forward line so easily. ( Grundy absolutely shredded TOB ) . We can still win the flag this year, in 10 games time these guys might be 10/15 % better and that might be just enough.

Was the biggest Swans troll going around a few years ago. Mr Big on the Bay. Then we crushed them in 2014 and he's barely been sighted since. Seems to have just made a strong return in the past few months.

The fortitude is strong with this one.
I never left, but you can make up whatever stories you like if you think it will impress people on your board.

You got a couple of likes so that probably made you feel ok. See you back in the bay, once you've recovered from the loss.
