Tonight is the lowest I've felt after a footy match since Adelaide's first AFL game, even including 2012. Been sick with a cold. Bad day at work. Roughead got cancer. Relative got cancer. Beaten by Sydney. Franklin in a Sydney top. Hodge in the rooms looking sombre.

Sometimes footy is uplifting but that has just killed me watching that. Shows how transient it all is, doesn't matter how well we've gone for years, it's still painful to watch your team struggling. Especially after this week.

Upside tonight for me:

Sicily and Windows are both going to be really good I think. Recall people potted Sicily in Round 1; check him out tonight diving headfirst into a marking opportunity. Gun.

Gunston is just fantastic.

Things I found hard to watch:

Hartung disposal. If he was 10% slower but 10% more accurate he'd be just about Pritchard level.

Rohan seagulling against the run. Shiels picking out a Sydney defender on the chest miles from any Hawk. Both kind of summed up a night where we could and should have won, but you could tell from a few minutes in it was going to be four quarters of frustration.

Missing targets, missing goals, missing Hodgey, missing Rough. Missing what Hill used to be. Missing a dominant inside mid.

Just GAGF tonight, seriously.

It's hard to see that this team is going to be flag quality this year, but I was wrong about them last year, and tonight just seemed like nothing bounced our way.
F uck man and tonight was beyond blue cup, do u need to chat ??
If anything all the above should just confirm there is more to life and we sometimes take this game ... take WINNING way too seriously and personal.

Ffs we've won EVERYTHING lately and we are here moping about a single loss after an incomprehensible week !

Be grateful WE ARE HAWTHORN

I hope to never see high balls kicked to Breust in a 3 on 1.

I thought he had a great game all things considered. Until Gunston took over I thought he was our best until about 10 mins in to the 3rd. His team mates and the umpires didn't do him any favours.

We were largely shit, umpiring was blatantly cheating the AFL just have to keep the love child in business . Ceglar, Langford, Hill spudding it up as usual and cannot ne part of the future. Move heaven and earth to get a new David Hale in the off season Scilliy can't kick a set shot anymore and thats his role. Gunners is an absolute champion of the game. Schoey would actually improve our line up! Brand and TOB going nicely though. We got a reality check tonight, we can play good football but we gave them too much head start.
Brand 1 posi in 3 qrts

I'm concerned... we would of been flogged last week as well If we were playing any other team than Freo.

Slow, shit decisions, shocking skills...

It feels like we are headed in one direction... and its not up. :(

Painful game to watch. Like watching two washed up punch-drunk fighters go 12 rounds. Burnt the ball going forward and allowed too many intercept marks by Swans defenders. Thought Burgoyne was good all night, Gunston was effective, Gibbo and Frawley solid citizens and Hill tried hard. I was set to give Ceglar a pass mark until that ****** awful handball which led to a Swans goal and sealed the game.

Langford looks like he needs a rest or a reduced workload. Great as a tackling machine in close but seems to have no zip off the mark when in space and what's with all the kicks off his non-preferred left foot when not under immediate pressure.

Might sound harsh but I would play a fit Spangher in front of Brand assuming we care more about winning than development.

I don't see how people can crucify Hill and Hartung and applaud Smith, they all played about as well as each other, got some nothing disposals, did some nice runs and had some shocking turnovers. I'm by no means saying they all played poorly, but take your sunnies off, and realise that they are not the only players that played poorly.

And people want to drop Langford and Lewis? Then who's going to play inside? Are we going to leave it all to Shiels? Who shanked a few tonight mind you.

And people want to drop TOB and Sicily? Because I can tell you why Gunners had a run at his marks, and it's because the defenders needed to keep the two young-uns accountable.

No one had a good week going into this game, and we all feel it quite keenly that it was a bad beat and we're hurting, but a lot of us need to pull our heads in.

Ceglar the only one who really needs to go away and have a think about how he can bloody kick a ball rather than shitty handballs and dinky grubbers.

Anyone at the game that can describe the cheering for Rough? Did it gain some traction?
Everyone said Rough and club asked not to so i forgot about it but when it started slowly everyone joined in and it felt good

Dear Roughy
Don't be upset with us, we cant do anything and just wanted to show u some love and support
