I like what you say. Rioli is as important to the structure of the forward line as Lake is to the back line. Having them there takes pressure off the others and allows them more freedom.
Bruest has been down of late because opponents have realised how good and dangerous he is, sure they can put smith on him but then who plays on Cyril? Or put smith on Bruest and give Cyril freedom to cut you up? Having him there makes our forward line so much more dangerous plus it adds defensive pressure against Sydney's half back flank run! Like I said port were a wild card with how they play they are hard to stop and match up on, I think we match up a lot better against Sydney and of we improve the contested possession and clearances and tackling and our backline can limited their bondi billionaires then we are a big show !!

Twitter reports that Sewell is training with Simpkin this morning and won't play for box hill. Hopefully just because he doesn't need the match practice like rioli but makes me worry about Lewis .

Hey, could you imagine if there were other allowances other than cost of living for the area you live?... Like for example with the old West Coast side with Ben Cousins, they could have applied for extra salary cap for cost of living due to recreational drug needs of the captain :p

Perth has the same cost of living as Sydney. By that measure Freo should get COLA as well and be able to sign Frawley this year, Dangerfield next year while retaining all their crop of players. What's that? There's not 9 NRL franchises in Perth? Oh well, carry on then.

Rohan will go to Breust.
Smith to Rioli
Hill is going to have to play the game of his life on Cunningham who can match his speed....he's going to have to run him into the ground for us to win.
Malceski also has to be contained. Simpkin did the job last time. He may be missing this time around.

Good luck guys.

Sydney will go in fresher with the extra day and not having a bruising encounter. That said, I feel you will have their measure and picking the hawks in a very close one.

I don't mind that we are entering this gf as underdog - the pressure is firmly on the swans and the bondi billionaires
Our boys just need to go out and do what they do best and that's once again prove everyone wrong

Mark Stevens very doom and gloom about Lewis' injury on Game Day just now, if he is correct it doesn't look good for Lewie for the GF  Also reported that Sewell won't play in the VFL GF today, trained instead this morning.

I don't wanna lose the GF:cry::cry:!! Someone convince me why we can win!! Because i'm scared!!….

I personally think we're up against it i know nobody likes a negative person so i'll keep my negative thoughts to myself after this post (or i'll try to at least). I just think our current form + players playing with various niggles (both sides would be, but Hawthorn look more vulnerable) compared to Sydney's and umpires will be wearing red and white next week.

I would not be surprised if Sydney as the #1 team this year end up beating Hawthorn by 4 goals+, i hope that the margin is not similar to 2007 or 2011.

That being said Hawthorn have looked down and out many times this year and found a way to win, i am clinging to the hope of various statistics (Spangher being undefeated at the MCG as a Hawk lol, whenever Hawthorn have played a prelim on the 20th... they have gone on to win the grand final on the 27th) and the matches played against Sydney could have been massive blowouts to Sydney's advantage. Hawthorn lost one on their turf, but we won the most recent contest on our home ground.... that one could have been a 20-30-40 point loss, but Hawthorn nearly turned it into a 20+ win (eventually whittled down to 10 points).

Just have to hope that Buddy and Tippet's kicking boots are not on straight, going to need to rough them up a bit (even if it costs 1-2 goals i'd be willing to play dirty, give them corkies etc) to unsettle them.

Definitely to do with Lewis. He's the obvious in if Lewis doesn't play...

Even if they think Lewis is an 80% chance of playing its good to not play him

Changed his tune from last night saying he'll be right to play.

I myself think it'll be risky to take him in not being 100%, but i do like the Hawthorn fear factor...... give Sydney some worry with having to cover Lewis, Rioli, Bruest, Smith, Hill - Sydney can't nullify all of them.... well i hope.

In 1989 I was at the GF... the shocking excuse for one. the one where the Hawks were most belted out of existence........... In despair I was looking up a the goal posts praying for the hooter to go and I will swear on my dying breath i saw a beautiful woman floating around the posts........... I called her Hawkera and have done since

I will swear on my life I have seen kicks hurling towards the goal posts suddenly swerve off when the maggots have ben too ridiculous. Tonight i called for her help and Hodgey made the smoher.

I don' mind if anyone think i am nuts... not a word of a lie
Your nuts.. are tasty, where did you buy them?

Mark Stevens wouldn't know. Would be remiss of us to let Sewell play, and risk injury, while Lewis is recovering.

Don't stress it until later in the week.

Until then Stevens can practice his press conference face for the cameras and formulate his inane questions.

That is Stevens on a bright day. As monotone as it comes
