If Buddy kicks 6.3 the Swans win, if he kicks 3.6 we win.

I think they'll get it in there more often than us, just about execution in front of goal and I think a lot will rest on Franklin's accuracy..

I feel like we need to play out of our skins next week to salute and take home our 12th.I feel like we're in really good form, but not devastating form, which you need to win GFs. '08, we hit the GF in even better form than Geelong. '12, we scraped over the line in the PF, with bad kicking keeping the Crows in it. And bad kicking's bad form, and we carried that into the GF and lost.
Last year we swatted the Swans aside and then beat our nemesis, so we were in excellent shape for the GF. I feel like we're not quite in as good a form as we were in '08 and '13. Damn tough year too, with a massive injury toll throughout a fair chunk of the year, with even our coach missing 5 or 6 weeks due to illness.
I feel like everything has fallen into place for the Swans. They have the AFL on their side, desperate for a Sydney flag. They have COLA, the Swans Academy, the Bondi Billionares (the best of which was one of us). They were gifted the extra day's recovery in '12 when it was us who deserved it by finishing top. This year, they finish top and guess who gets the extra day?
They got a ultra-soft Prelim, a training run, while we were almost run down by an almost overwhelmingly youthfully exuberant, heavily umpire assisted team, with our best player for the season injured and on the sideline for the whole last quarter.
If we win this week, it'll be just the most stupendous, against the odds achievement imaginable.

My heart tells me we can beat the Swans but my head suggests otherwise. Our side is just so unsettled but remarkably keeps winning. Spangher, Ceglar, Suckling and Simpkin could all lose their spots. I suspect Shoenmakers and Rioli will come in at the expense of Spangher and Simpkin. I'd like to also see Sewell in for Suckling but can't see that happening. McEvoy may be a better option than Ceglar but I tend to think the selectors will back Jonothan.

After reading that, the way we have come through all that this year gives me confidence we will win. The players have developed a steely resolve the likes of which will only be appreciated when the achievement of this club gets looked back on in history. One last insurmountable, impossible mountain to climb before we can once again hoist our flag high on top of the mountain and pronounce 'we are the champions'...if we win, it is a script made for a movie screen really

I dont think our side is unsettled . We only made one change from the qual final . Its actually been quite stable for a little while now. Not sure we're in red hot form though ...

Honestly think that Langers has Sewells spot at the moment.

In: Rioli, Possibly BB
Out: Simpkin, possibly Cegs
Duryea (sub). Rioli starts, he's fit or he's not.

BB needs a big game again.

Those suggestion Spanger being dropped are kidding, unless he's replaced with Shoey. Swans are big, we need spang, and he's been great against the swans.

Would you really in your calmest mindset suggest you would bring Ryan Shoenmakers, who has not played in a final in 14' thus far or a AFL game since Round 22 back into the Hawthorn team for a Grand Final against the Sydney Swans????? If you need reminder how bout this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=iGHNJBtvWhw#t=79

If Rioli plays well and gets through the VFL GF without issue then he will come back in next week. His inclusion will be a huge morale booster.

He also can't be sub. If he starts on the field it means that Sydney need to decide who they send Nick Smith to. Rioli or Breust? Breust destroyed Smith back in round 18 but has been suffering an apparent form slump of late. At least as far as impacting the scoreboard is concerned. My guess is that he'll go to Rioli as he's done successful jobs on him in the past.

I don't think they have another quality small defender capable of going with Breust if that's the case. If it's Shaw or Malceski then that'll be a big win for us as Breust is far too dangerous to not pay the respect. They'll have to be very accountable and that will have an impact on their defensive rebounding. They might opt to put Bird on him which might be effective, especially if he wants to go through the middle at stages, but it frees up one of other mids from being tagged. Whoever it is it'll have to be someone smart as Breust is a genius when it comes to positioning himself for great effect out on the field.

So important that Breust finds some form for next week.

For me I feel that it will be
In: Rioli, McEvoy
Out: Simpkin, Ceglar

I like both simpkin and ceglar, they will both be unlucky to miss, Sewell comes in if Lewis doesn't recover and if shoenmakers plays a blinder tomorrow I can see him coming in for Spangher

I would love to see Sewell Rioli and Mcevoy in.

Ceglar was overwhelmed and Mcevoy has been literally smashing the door down for weeks. Rioli yes, pure class, if he makes it through the GF today, but i wouldnt like to see Simpkin dropped he is very very good at what he does, always picks up around 10 possies for the quarter a few inside 50's and regulary chips in for a goal so i would like to see him there. The one vulnerable for Rioli i think may be Suckling, who would possible drop back to sub for Cyril but i think Simpkin is better suited to that role.
As for Sewell who can he relace unless there is an injury? Langford has been absolutely massive for us, but Sewell stands up against the Swines. If Sewell and Riloi are to come in perhaps Cyril will be the sub and Sewell will start on ground and Simpkin and Suckling will be the unlucky ones.
As for spangher being dropped, yes he was shocking but his intent was there and he has played well against the $yds previously. He may be needed in def. As it stands we have a slow looking lake for tippett, gibbo for campaigner judas, stratts for flog of the year and perhaps spangh for reid, the other option is someone like Birch. We are lacking height if they go 4 tall, but on the other hand if we roll the dice and drop Spangher we pick up that extra run and hardness which could be crucial and get us over the line. Cmon Hawkers smash these fake campaigners.

No matter what happens they have had an extra 1 mil in salary cap to steal our best player and 1.5~ in 'ambassador' payments for another 2 a graders, or to steal some other teams promising father son by offering a better deal. This shits gotta go, 17 other teams in the afl will hate what the swines have been given forever, they are a fake joke club built on fake culture and myths. No prems in 74 years they are the equivalent of fitzroy or melbourne until the afl stepped in and gave them the world. Salary cap? **** off its just a scam.

Wouldn't read too much into the respective form of the sides after the prelims. Shitney had a training run against witches hats and we were pushed by a great young side who had a weapon (speed) which is not possessed by the Swines.

We kicked accurately for the first time in four years and, whilst lucky to hold on in the end, had the answers for most of the night. That will hold us in good stead. Like the rest of the season, Shitney had victory handed to them by a pathetic North and have everything to lose as they will be the favourite

If Franklin doesn't kick well they are in big trouble and if Reid doesn't come up it means Goodes and Tippett will get a lot more attention. Plus there is the pain of the 2012 defeat and the fact that it is Hodge's 250th to provide extra motivation.

Shitney are a great side but we match up better against them than we do against the speed of Port. Lake will not allow Tippett much room and Gibbo will make Frankln earn every kick. Neither will get the same time and space as they had on Friday. Parker and Hannebery should be the two mids we tag as both are potentially damaging on the scoreboard. Kennedy will win clearances even if tagged so we need to employ the same tactics as we did last time by making him kick (something which he is average at). Malceski is their only other really damaging player by foot and needs a hard tag. If he ends up opposed to Bruest, we must play Bruestat FF as he would destroy Malceski one on one.

I assume Lewis will get up so that leaves Rioli and Big Boy to come in (assuming they both get through today). Ceglar picked a bad week to play poorly and the contested marking of BB and his ability to fill a hole in defence will be needed this week. Not sure who will be omitted for Rioli but the number one candidate would be Simpkin I guess. Spangher is the other player in danger but given the tall forwards Shitney have he may be needed. Suckling proved his worth in the first half and should remain as sub. Sewell only comes in if Lewis doesn't get up.

Will not bother watching, reading or listening to any media this week because all that will be sprouted is how the Hawks have so many weaknesses and Shitney have none, analysis of how the Swans will beat us and the media drooling over spuds like Teddy and Grundy and how they are elite blah blah. As usual we will be disrespected and treated like a side who has achieved nothing.

If we win on Saturday it will be the greatest premiership in our club's history and probably the greatest of all time given the injuries, fixture and weekly reamings we have copped from the umps and MRP this year. I will sign up to Twitter just to give it to flogs like Jon Ralph, Healy, Harley and all the other haters if we win.

Have a couple of Swans supporters at work so it's going to be a long week.

Shoenmakers is no where near the GF side!!!

Your kidding right??

Spangher could not get into the game today... But I think he will be more suited to playing Swans.

Buddy,Tippett,Reid,Goodes..Take your pick!

Ceglars spot is there for McEvoy depending how he performs tomorrow.

And either Simpkin or Suckling will get dropped for Cyril. Or drop both and bring in Sewell as well!

It amazed Sewell was dropped for yesterday's match in favour of Suckling.
When you got to war ... You want your elite soldiers on hand ... Not some bloke with a flashy left foot.

If we are a chance .. Delicious and Sewell must play ...

I'll challenge anyone to view the footage of Sewell's performance in the 1st final against Geelong ... Then explain to me why he should be dropped, just about every decision he made was quality

If we serve up the same team tonight against the $wannies ... The result will not be pleasant

Leg speed or the ability to pierce a zone by foot was the reason Sewell was dropped against the Power
Big body at the rugby scrum will be more important against the Swans but so will a precise left foot to dissect the maul before it forms into a scrum.

I wouldn't play Cyril at all if he's not currently being held under lock and key, what i read a few days ago was that he was NOT running at full pace, nor was he kicking at full strength with his foot. Sammy Mitchell is playing as though he is still hampered by the hamstring injury (and Cyril supposedly suffered the same sort) - i wouldn't want to carry both players with similar injury risks in the side, if they are not playing up to their usual standard.
