Everyone can do what they want but I hope that we as a fan base don't boo Buddy this week, especially at the Grand Final parade. He gave us many years of good service and, yes he is helping a team that could stop us winning our next flag but lets take the high road and use the parade to thank him for his years of service and enjoyment.

JMTC

The grand final parade is to celebrate two teams making it to the Grand Final. Don't think it is the time or place for boo'ing the opposition team let alone Franklin but I don't see any reason to cheer him as he goes past either.

As Hawthorn supporters we are not tired of seeing our team succeed. Everyone else is pretty much over it. I get it. So does the media.

Our success is the main reason why there is so much hate out there. If we win another flag next week, that hate will only increase. I think I can handle that!

If Simpkin goes out for Rioli then I think there is some merit in using Suckling as the sub. He would come on when it's not so contested and the game has opened up a bit. Would allow him a bit more space to run and carry and use his skills, he could be the difference if brought on in the last in a tight game. FWIW I think Rioli, McEvoy and Sewell in for Simpkin, Ceglar and Spang (sorry Spang although I can't see you getting dropped)

Re Bigboy and Cyril..... if its a tough game, any concern about only a 5 day break for these two?

Today's management of their time on the ground will indicate whether they have a chance of selection next week.
Note previous post, BB is a big chance. Sewell a Lewis guarantee, and maybe still a chance if Lewis plays.
Cyril, will only play about 75% I would think. Keep $ydney guessing!

Can't drop Spangher for Sewell. Sydney have a very tall forward line

Does anyone see the irony in a Kennedy and a Langford being involved in a potential back-to-back Hawthorn premiership?

I can't wait. Both are great players and I never thought I would cheer the name "Langers" in a game ever again. Should be a ripper of a game.

Let the media inflate Sydney all week. Their accuracy in front of goal is wanting this season since they got bud, and they go to him as much as we used to 2007-2012. Inaccuracy in front of goal will cost you a flag, like it did to Geelong in 2008, Collingwood in its 2010 draw, us in 2012, Freo last year. I expect much the same this saturday from the COLA kids.

Don't worry about their dominant performance over the Roos. We won't give them the luxury of so much space around the ground.

Yeah that's why I can't see him getting dropped, I love him but worried he is going to cost us in the big one. When you look at it from a player v player point of view Sewell far more valuable in a GF than Spangher. I know it's all about structures though.

how secure is shiels with cyril and sewell waiting in the wings? simpkin should be under consideration, and dureya might be under the pump as well.
I would be reluctant to drop ceglar for mcevoy, because cegs has had recent exposure to finals pressure. he's also done a pretty decent job.

it's a good position to be in...

Bruest has been down of late because opponents have realised how good and dangerous he is, sure they can put smith on him but then who plays on Cyril? Or put smith on Bruest and give Cyril freedom to cut you up? Having him there makes our forward line so much more dangerous plus it adds defensive pressure against Sydney's half back flank run! Like I said port were a wild card with how they play they are hard to stop and match up on, I think we match up a lot better against Sydney and of we improve the contested possession and clearances and tackling and our backline can limited their bondi billionaires then we are a big show !!

I think Poppy, Hill and Smith also all get less attention when Rioli is out there.
plus he is a genuine match winner

Shiels is secure

Still got to try and win this VFL GF though.

Shiels is more than secure in our starting line-up.

I wouldn't play Cyril at all if he's not currently being held under lock and key, what i read a few days ago was that he was NOT running at full pace, nor was he kicking at full strength with his foot. Sammy Mitchell is playing as though he is still hampered by the hamstring injury (and Cyril supposedly suffered the same sort) - i wouldn't want to carry both players with similar injury risks in the side, if they are not playing up to their usual standard.

Mitchell was best on ground in the Qual

Just popped over to the Swans equivalent thread on their board to see what they think and what the general feel is like. 12 pages so far and you could count the amount of posts regarding match ups or game strategy on one hand. Most think they've already won it. The rest are pretty sure but are pre-emptively blaming the umpires.

I honestly will not even bother going on to their board. Pretty much every week, I like going onto the opposition boards to talk tactics.

Swans board is easily the worst on the site. Just one big circle jerk. They rarely talk about the actual game.

I still think he's off his best, but if he's still popping up as BOG i guess i'm fussy :( (he's either holding himself back so he doesn't reinjure it OR because of the hammy he's not able to get full penetration in all of his kicks) - i'd prefer to not carry Sammy/Cyril with identical troubled hammy's in the same game, but luckily for other supporters i'm not a selector.

I love how it's being touted as the year's best offence vs the year's best defence YET again. There is a whisker between the two sides in terms of attack and defence.
