To Hawthorn supporters what has Lake's form been like? I am guessing he is going to be up against Tippett. Given recent form who would you back in a one on one contest between Lake and Tippett?

Tippett and then Brian will apply the choke

Gee Box Hill play an identical style of play as the seniors, great to see. Cyril just plugging away, looks like he just wants the run, done a couple of nice things.

Schoey looks average. Sicily looks a class above them really, lots of talent and Woodward is 110% AFL standard.

Woodward looks a class above, doesn't he?

Unfortunately, Shoey looks like he belongs at this level.

Lake.

But Tippett will run him around like Schulz did. 50/50 contest

woodward starts round 1 2015...would love to see him in a big game going by the other game on ;)

Tippett is something of a shit truck though. I reckon we rotate Lake, Stratton, Gibson and the Spang across Franklin, Tippett, Reid and Goodes.

Station Lake in the square, Stratton and the Spang across the HF'ers and play Gibson as the roaming KP defender. To be honest I'm quiet confident with how we match up down back but the key will be whether or not we can contain Buddy - who has tourn us a new one (albeit without Lake, therefore stretched in defence) in each of the home / away games we've played.

With the benefit of hindsight, our backline is far more suited to Sydney's conventional forward line than it was Port Adelaide's mosquito HF fleet.

That's not to say we'll win but we have reason to be quietly confident IMO

Righto lets get one things sorted first, we can beat this side.

- We will go in clear underdogs, we play better as underdogs, will be interesting to see what clarko comes up with from a motivational perspective this week. We almost go in with nothing to lose, don't know why but this scenario suits us better. The past two games have seen us go in as clear favourites. Its like watching australia chase runs in the cricket, you just never feel comfortable.

- have been on the ceglar train all year but big boy MUST come in. Can exploit them in the ruck, and offers a physical presence that ceglar can't. I get the feeling the big fella has learnt a few things after being dropped, will come out hungry, hope he can throw his weight around and add a bit more red to the sydney guernsey. Takes a great grab and can go forward. GF experience as well.

- Sydney have been made look a lot better than what they are. North Melbourne applied zero to no pressure on friday. Scraped past a beaten up fremantle the week before.

- We have brian lake this time against sydney. He hasn't played sydney before. Perfect match up for tippet who has been pretty scratchy on form this year.

- Gary Rohan. Can't kick and succumbs under immense pressure. I hope clarko gets onto this.

- Cyril. Unquestionably will play only fwd 50. may even play out of the goal square. Adds a serious element of intrigue and x factor for our fwd line. Allows bruest to roam free. The thought has me extremely excited.

Will be a tough game, sydney can have the favourites tag, if we hit our straps we will win this. Go hawks.

Everyone can do what they want but I hope that we as a fan base don't boo Buddy this week, especially at the Grand Final parade. He gave us many years of good service and, yes he is helping a team that could stop us winning our next flag but lets take the high road and use the parade to thank him for his years of service and enjoyment.

JMTC
No offence, but this is a terrible idea. I suggest every Hawk supporter band together and give this prick the abuse he deserves because it's the closest they'll ever get to him. A w***er chant would be appropriate.

In the prelim a few players were down no doubt but all players have turned in good performances lately.

Lake was excellent in the QF, didn't really have a suitable match up in the PF, is perfectly suited for Tippett and he hasn't played against the $wans this year. Tippett is a spud but has managed to cause us headaches this year, pretty much because Lake has missed both.

Mitchell was poor in the PF, was best on ground in the QF.

Gibson had a poor game as well but had been in awesome form the 4 games previous.

Anyway my point is that I don't think many of our players are in poor 'form' but did put in some poor games.

The biggest concern for the team must be not putting together 4 quarters of football.

We didn't play our best footy in the following quarters
PF - 1st and 4th
QF - 1st
Rd 23 - 1st
Rd 22 - 1st and 2nd
Rd 21 - 3rd and 4th

In our last 5 starts we have allowed the opposition to control way too much of the game for significant periods of time. If we can play 4 quarters then we should win.

Not sure Rioli has done enough. Would'nt play him.
Shoenmakers is a girl and should be traded for anything we can get.
Sewell will play.
Mc Evoy will play.
Ceglar and Simpkin out.

I think it might be Lake's last game. Expect him to go out swinging.

He should be able to contain Tippett well, is the perfect match up really. Lake did an excellent job on Hawkins in the QF.

Lake is an outstanding match up for tippet. I don't reckon tippet has been too good to be honest, has been the beneficiary of taking the 2nd defender against questionable back lines, his form has been well and truly franked, seems to kick a lot of cheap goals off the back of packs. Lake will make him extremely accountable.
He isn't overly fast, as for size and strength lake is perfectly suited. Would back lake in all the way.

Premierships worthy of any praise are earnt with hard work, not bought.
We win premierships, $ydney buy.
Hope we don't get flogged by the umps aswell.
Win this and it would be the grestest in the families history given all we've been through.

Don't understand the criticism of Mitchell. Thought he was among our best players last night and his willingness to put his body on the line was consistent throughout. Made a couple of blues but considering he gets his possession under pressure you have to expect a couple of turnovers.
