Cyril IN had to be done, he's a match winner, a game changer, the classic X factor. Him and Buddy are the two best in the league at making everyone else look like they are playing U18's when they are on song.

Cyril has to START and cannot be sub just in case he is subbed on and goes down and then we are two players down.

So if Cyril starts who will be sub, it has to be a like for like or similar in positional terms so the only person it could be with the criteria of (midfielder, small forward, defensive forward, goal kicker, great tackler) is POPPY. So POPPY would have to be SUB.

So if Cyril goes down at some point it is a straight swap and we are only one man down on the bench.

Yes I completely agree under normal circumstance where we are wanting to exploit and we expect it to be 3/4 time, but this move is a roll of the dice, we throw cyril in and let him do his magic and hopefully all goes well, but what if he goes down early, then we need a like a like

The players listed on the bench are the only realistic chances of being the subs and I think Suckling's game would not work well as a sub. Especially when you want to exploit tiredness is opposition players. Spangher or Duryea as a sub is somewhat pointless IMO considering they cannot add something to change the game. It's Rioli for me - and it happens at half time or not long after.

I hate the sub rule as well. It is ironic though in the sense that the sub rule is the only thing allowing the Hawks to take the risk with Rioli.
