Crow fans are hoping that the Hawks will take Laurence Angwin this pre season. So there's your ruckman. Perhaps we could help out in the Chick deal.

Chick to West Coast
Angwin to Hawthorn
now who have the Eagles got that the Crows would want?

No deal.
The Hawks will not be up for taking a player that has had no football for a year, a history of injuries and....other problems for Chick.
The risk is far, far too high that Angwin will never come right.
If the guy is gonna get back into the game, he'd have to gain fitness, play, gain form and get his mental state right for the top level.

Freo's salary cap is so ****ed up that they would be paying Bell, Croad, Farmer, Pavlich, Longmuir, Haselby more money than Des Headland (16 BL votes) next year if he were to sign with them.

West Coast will have him...Brisbane can take their pick of WC players.

Yup theres some bitchfighting already but i have a few words and listen carefully wet toasters THE hawks are gonna play hard ball no matter what so give up while you are still in front you can thank the freo dorkers for that, they screwed the hawks so much the hawks will play hard ball forever and ever.Family situation or not and tragedys aside, the hawks know they cannot be screwed because a player wants to go home and a tragedy happens as well.this is a buisness. Cold, maybe but these are tough times.

Ben Marsh ? ;)

How about this then....

Adelaide trade - Angwin, 2nd rd pick
Adelaide receive - Quinton Lynch

Hawthorn Trade - Daniel Chick
Hawthorn Receive - Angwin, Adelaides 2nd rd pick, West Coasts 2nd rd pick

West Coast Trade - Lynch, 2nd rd pick
West Coast Receive - Daniel Chick

id say in the current situation regarding chick football is the last thing on his mind which puts hawthorn in a no win situation really.
west coast can simply offer what they think is fair and reasonable or leave things as they are knowing too well that chick may stand out of football altogther for the next 12mnths.
you just have to wonder and understanable from chicks point of view after recent events that his mind would be on football at all next year.

interesting who blinks 1st the hawks or west coast.

cheers!

Can't see the Eagles trading Lynch when he's the only obvious replacement for Jakovich at CHB.

Besides, Hawthorn have said they don't want picks.

Whatever buddy. You seem to forget that West Coast don't need Chick. They will only grab him if the deal is right. If the Hawks play hard ball like you say they are, then West Coast are more than likely to walk away. I can't see Chick staying in Melbourne if a deal isn't made. West Coast will neither lose or gain, but Hawthorn are likely to lose.

I think you are under some illusion to which club/s hold the cards here. I don't advise you to play the cards at Crown, because you would most likely blow your dough.

He's no ruckman either, at least not yet, as seen when he let a Corey McKernan with absolutely zero confidence destroy him in the ruck.

? The same Campbell that outmarked Corey to save the game for the Hawks late that night? That Campbell whose stats were close to Coreys for the game? The Campbell playing his first game?

No, he's not ready yet but worth sticking with just the same.

Fact: Chick is determined to return to WA
Fact: West Coast doesn't *need* Chick.
Fact: If Hawthorn refuse to trade us Chick, he'll go into the draft, and they'll get nothing for him. If he does go into the draft, no victorian club will pick him up, since if he is all that fired up about going back to WA, he'd just threaten to sit out a year if they were silly enough to waste draft choices on him. So, even if Hawthorn refuse to trade, WC or Fremantle still have Chick coming.

We hold the cards here, either Hawthorn make a deal with one of the two teams Chick is prepared to play for, and extract some small compensation, or they lose him for nothing. Up to the Hawks, but talk of Gardiner, or Cox being traded for Chicky-babe is sheer idiocy. West Coast aren't going to trade prime young talent for an elderly midfielder who may or may not resurrect his career after a mediocre season. Our midfield is looking okay. Chick would be a welcome addition, but not at that price.

So, in effect, Hawthorn *need* to trade Chick or they will lose him with no compensation. If no ruckman is forthcoming, no doubt they will engineer an 11th hour deal to extract something (anything) from the eagles when it finally comes down to a choice between trading him or losing him.
Can anyone offer any logical argument why this isn't the case?

Without even bothing to read through 7 pages, Hawthorn will not get Michael S. Gardiner. :) Especially not for a player that they're trying to offload, yet we're not desperately interested in.

Cheers.

So chick would forgo $200-400k earnings for 'homesickness' I think not.

He already has. You seem to be forgetting he has already left Hawthorn - not coming back. He was quite adamant about it - even prepared to quit on 149 games. Regardless of what he does next year, he will not be a Hawk.
