Hawthorn after Goldsack

People get very carried away with the words premiership player. If this was speculated 2 weeks ago we would all be saying lets see what we can get for him.

I like the sack but lets face it he is no world better. He is about 23 and still at best just in our best 22. We have Tom Young who looks a similar type and even jarred blight as well as looking at tarrant who will play the same role in a year or 2.

He is a hero and always will be because he is a collingwood premiership player but he is no better now because he has a medal around his neck. I reckon clubs win a flag and miss opportunties by refusing to trade premiership players and then a few years later they are down the bottom.

If we could get a decent forward or mid for him Id take it. If we could get lewis it would add even more depth to our midfield and IMO would be a trade in our favour. I doubt the hawks would do the deal with lewis TBH as I think they would be the losers in this deal.

Hate to tell you but Blight is gawn. Anyway, I think the Sack performed pretty well over the finals and only had two really bad games this year where he lost the plot. I think it was the Adelaide game where he pretty much gave them half their score through turnovers? I'd still like to keep him though, he's a capable defender and the team does look better with him in than out.

goldsack has soo much potential its not funny. i really think he can reach goddards calibre

You think Goldsack can become the best player in the competition?

I would be happy if Goldsack becomes 1/3 of the player Goddard is.

@ Muston, Muston = Rusling

I've only seen Muston play a few times and each time I've seen him play he's shown glimpses that he could become a handy player in numerous positions.

If Goldsack wants out then he's one I'd consider to be part of the deal.

There is a reason you only see Muston a few times, he is a cripple.

What was it? 3 ACLs to the same knee?

Thats the way, sell off the bloke who you have seen less of. Fifty odd games over four years is not bad when the selection policy ( meaning consecutive games ) for some players has been a bit weighted.

He may not suffer from leather poisoning but he sure knows how to use the ball when he gets it.

Tall, fast and hard at it.

Maybe if he had blonde tips he might be worth keeping?

The Sack stays.

This tread has lead to nothing, just that Goldy will become a top 5 play in the comp and someone wants Muston for some reason. we are rather bored with the lack of trades

Muston? Dowler? What? Hell no! Goldy has them both covered. Wow.

I like the Jordan Lewis one though. However, I get the feeling we'd be offered steak knives for Goldsack, which is why their not targeting Brown or Reid, but the guy just in the 22 who was only included the second week.

We could hope for a Gary Moss or someone like that. I say Keep The Sack. I would certainly take Lewis though.

even jarred blight

We delisted him didn't we?

Anyways, I would hate to see Goldy do but you have to listen to their offers. Goldy is just so flexible and he proved that against the Saints so preference is to keep him.

Why is everyone so keen on Lewis? Is he that good? Yeh he's tough but we have Blair and Beams coming through to fit that role I recon...

Only dropped by to offer congrats in another thread, but I noticed this and figured, while I'm here...

I hope the Pies stay wary. The Hay/Thompson trades have already been alluded to, and we look like being on the losing end of the Williams deal. All credit to Hawthorn for getting what they did from those trades (throw Croad in as well) and good luck to them, but it's probably time other clubs put on the cynical glasses in any trade deal.

I hope you don't come out second best if this goes ahead. If you have to trade, get someone who will be an asset to your club.*

* I have to add to this that I don't think the Roos lost completely in the Thompson deal, but it was fraught with danger.

I love the Sack, but this is 2 years in a row he's been floated for trade. Not that it matters a great deal, but didn't he also follow the Hawks before we drafted him.

I'd be interested in a deal, bcause as much as I love Goldy, we do him no justice using him as a fringe player, but he really is stuck behind Maxy, Harry, Heater, Tooves for that defensive role and might be looking something more permanent.

Would have to be a good deal. Lewis is nice. This is probably complete rubbish, and there is no way Goldsack would get the deal done, but I've heard Mitchell possibly wants out, and there is more to the captaincy issue than they are letting on. Again, I think thats rubbish, but I heard it from a mate who follows the Hawks and has some minimal inside knowledge as best.
