The 50 to Buddy is the one that I'll concede was odd. The HTB for both sides have been pretty fair. I ******* hate the slide rule though. What is Hale supposed to do? Squib it? This isn't Carlton this is Hawthorn we're better than that.

Really? Those two in a row, one for Cyril kicking a goal and then at the next centre bounce. No "prior" whatsoever, and the Freo player was trying to get it out, both times. No consistency at all.

The disappointing thing about it was that it really seemed like the umpire was starstruck by Buddy and paid the 50 because McPharlin went over where Buddy said it was.

To be fair, Freos defence and pressure HAS been good. Far better than port in 2007.

Its their composure with the ball thats been awful, and credit must go to hawthorns pressure for that

So apparently Channel 7 commentary was wrong when they said only 3 times before had a team gone goalless in the first quarter of a GF. They said the Blues in '70 and '79 against the Pies, and Brisbane against the Pies in 2002, but Saints also did it in the GF replay in 2010. All against the Pies, for a 3 wins 1 loss record!

So today is the 5th time a team has gone goalless in the first goalless and the first time that it was not against Collingwood.

Gone goalless and won the game.

Pearce is having a shocker, Fyfe would be leading the Norm Smith atm, keeping Freo in it with Mundy and Barlow. Hawthorn have once again bought their own umpires, HTB interpretation needs looking at over the pre-season.
