Um if roughy and vickery are rucks then who are hawks key forwards for hendo, lonergan and stewart to play on?
They will run us off our feet ??

Maybe Lonergan gets a rest.
They have talls on the fwd line- Gunston is tall, Vickery is tall, Roughy is tall.
McEvoy is their main ruck.
Blicavs is still our wildcard, because he CAN play as a ruck, but also as a tall mid, and as a utility.
We had a very tall team that played Hawks this time last year.

That's ok, running backwards suits us ... reality is that's about the extent of their 'running' these days.

You are counting two of the hawks players twice.

Of course. But not really!
Do you suggest any of those 2 you named is going to ruck 100% of the game? Impossible.
We can have Stanley as CHF- ditto Vickery. They will help out in ruck contests.
We can have Blicavs as a tall mid, like Roughy does- but Roughy will also go forward.
McEvoy is certainly dangerous when he rests on the fwd line.

Lewis last year v us 30 disposals rd1 and 36 in the final.
Mitchell..................36.........................30................
Birchall....................26........................28................
All gone + Bradley Hills pace.
The Hawks are a shadow of their former self and ripe for the picking.

Stats for Tom Mitchell v us?
Of course, it was in the setting of being 3rd or 4th in line at Swans MF.

There's absolutely NO excuses with this game, their small forwards will need to kick 10+ if they're going to be any chance.

If our attitude and intensity are where they should be we'll win by 50+. If it's not then it's going to be another tight finish.

Just shows how enthralled he is in his persistent stalking of Bobby. I thought stalking was against the rules!!!!
By definition, we must all be stalkers if we reply to provocative or non-provocative post(er)s on a regular basis. That's what this forum is about- interaction with anonymous fellow Cat fans.

Happened to look at the Hawks board for this game, and one of the posters commented on the overt hatred many of our Geelong posters have for each other even when we are winning!!

Worst thing about this game will be having to endure the jibes of bottom-feeding mouthbreathers like Nutjob Nakia if we lose.

Luckily I think we'll smash Geelong, I really do. Not only does their coach & captain have an over-inflated opinion of themselves but their young players are plodders who coast along in the wake of Dangerwood while Fatboy Porkins similarly carries the load in the forwardline. Its reassuring to know we need only restrict the output of three players to effectively render them a bottom 4 side, and their defense without Taylor is not much better than ours.

One thing is certain- win, lose or draw the loonies on the Handbagger board will resemble a pack of wild dogs fighting among themselves after the game. If you think disagreements are prevalent here, try wandering over there sometime and you'll be shocked at how many Geelong posters utterly loathe each other. :D

Like you said earlier about Bews and Stewart, different player.
Think about it.
Thurlow and Ruggles play similar roles, Stewart and Bews don't. Think about it.

Also, Ruggles is shit and should be out of the team asap.

Wasted your time going to the Hawks board Sir Eric. I read it here 6 days ago.:Dthe poster evades me.

McCarthy's opponent last week was Jayden Hunt: 30 disposals, 9 marks, 3 tackles, 4 inside 50s & 1 goal. It was career high disposals, kicks, marks and equal career high goal total from Hunt.

Only Jones had more of the ball for the Demons.

While Linc got more of the ball than normal, his 1 tackle, 1 goal, 3 frees against and the game that Hunt produced kinda gave the MC enough to send him back to the VFL.

Great observation. I'm just not sure that he needs to be dropped in order to make improvements to the defensive side of his game. Maybe they have already done so prior to this week, but surely you could just show him the tape and demand that he address those deficiencies in the next game?

Lonergan usually goes to Gunston and does a good job. I think that will continue, and Henderson will take Roughy. Looks like Stanley might be permanent forward, with Blicavs 2nd ruck, Smith 1st. Taylor potentially going back to intercept man in the back half. That's my guess anyway.

I agree with all of the above get that out of the way first.

But lets not forget the north melbourne scenario the week before they are currently 0-4 i heard on the podcast calls of 60 plus point win belting etc etc. We should of lost that game realistically there are no easy games of afl football anymore if your off 5% you can lose. Just like the swans had injuries and missed some opportunities bang your 0-4.

If Taylor plays back and Stanley plays as a forward then our structure already looks much better then the first 3 weeks IMO.

From there, we just have to have the right attitude and I think we'll win comfortably.

Agree, maybe one reason he played really well in week one was that he had Cockatoo up forward who can be really on top of the defensive pressure also and work well as a tag team.

I don't see Linc missing for long, maybe rotating through with guys like Parsons and Parfitt who both deserved to keep their spots this week. I think they probably want some consistency from Linc (as we want from Motlop), but Linc is an easier option to drop back to the vfl

I reckon McCarthy could have caused the Hawks quite a few problems (as he did in the same game last year). Bugger really.

That's why I've gone conservative earlier in the thread and only tipped us by75 points.

Want to hear everyone's thoughts
Can you play Menengola and Horlin-Smith in the same team
Or if you can't which one do you play?

I love watching McCarthy because when he is on he will cause problems for opposition teams with his athleticism and abilities in front of goal.

But maybe him missing this week is actually a good thing because it shows we currently have some depth in that area and players need to fight to earn a spot in the side when playing as a small forward. Or just be named Cowan :D

Our injury list feels smaller than in recent years, so maybe hopefully those guys not getting a run in the AFL at the moment don't drop their heads and instead put in strong, solid, consistent performances in the vfl to either force their way in or force those currently in the team to play the best they can knowing there is someone who can take their spot if the drop off for even one game
