I reckon that there might be a number of clubs looking at him... would be nice if we could grab him as a rookie selection and use him as one of our nominated rookies after we promote White.
Assuming that the 24 year old Gale had previously nominated for the draft, couldn't we have traded with the GC to sign him?

I believe that's how North, Fremantle, Portand Collingwood acquired Richardson, Mzungu, Phillips and Faulks. GC could list players who have nominated for the draft and then on trade them if they so wished. Might apply to Hartigan who would have had to have nominated for the 2009 draft.

Nice read Bb. .. Although I think its a bit short sighted not to see the gains in trying Hampson at CHB. .. Sure he'll struggle early and will be unlikely turn into anything decent in that position but what if a short period in the position gives him enough defender knowledge to take the next step as a forward. .. After all, once you understand how your opponent thinks its somewhat easier to turn that against them. .. Having said that I also agree that at this stage Hampson looks more like a depth Fwd/Ruck. ..

I agree with BP on this one...the romace of putting a ruckman in a key post and seeing him dominate is just that...romance. It rarely ever eventuates at all. Hampson as a pinch hitting tactic down forward maybe yes - as a defender, a big

I thought that the rules stated that the player had to have once been on an AFL list?

The reason why the Dockers traded for Faulks is that he had previously been drafted by the Sydney Swans.

Williamstown football manager Chris Dixon said the Dockers had struck gold in trading pick No.55 in the national draft to Gold Coast for the pre-listed Faulks and selection No.61.

Faulks was drafted by Sydney in 2006, but de-listed two years later without making his senior debut, knocking back a rookie-list tryout with the Swans before re-entering the VFL.

I'm pretty sure that the rule is pre-listed rather than pre-draft nominated.

As far as Hampson goes I'd like to see him given a shot as a third tall forward rather than as a defender. However, it's going to be very difficult if not nigh on impossible to find room for three rucks to play in the same 22 and there's definitely only room for one pure ruck which is ultimately why Sauce had to go as they club had invested too much in Warnock.

The club clearly believe Kreuzer can be a ruck-forward which makes absolute sense. With the bulk that he's put on I could also see him becoming a ruck-defender. He also has the IQ to play wherever he and the club want him to. I just don't know if Hampson can become a genuine contender at any position other than ruck. You would hope for forward but he doesn't have the safe hands may never develop them.
