Ok, I know it was just a NAB cup game, but they looked hopeless tonight with no decent marking forward.
What they would do to have JK.
Just goes to show that while midfielders come and go, a good forward is much harder to come by. :)

Shit thread.

Carlton were less than impressive, but until we beat them our fans are in no position to laugh and point.

Sydney's forward line looked good though, promising signs from VW and that ginger kid. Incidentally 'rohy' ranga' is an anagram of Gary Rohan...

Shit post.

agreed. who the hell cares. its irrelevant anyway, eagles had a s*it forward line traditionally and we have done OK. carlton will sort it out with time. Bulldogs have shown that u can win games without a forward line and many teams have proven that having a great forward line doesnt mean success.

although id love to see judd fly like he did 05-07. he is still an unbeliable player though.

The bulldogs have not won a flag or even come close so i don't think they are ringing endorsement for having a shit forward line. You can only get away with a shit forward line if you have an outstanding (as in being in best couple in the comp) midfield and defence. You can't be weak in multiple areas and win the comp.

Great to watch.

I don't know if I should be rating Carlton's coaching staff on a NAB game but, while it's fine to have no good forwards after trading Fevola, it's not okay to have no system in the forward 50 at all.

To me it just seemed like they only only had 2 or 3 permanent fowards and the others were guys that played several positions. Henderson back and forward, Judd Middle and forward, Kruzer Ruck and forward...

Please Note: I'm no expert on forward lines.

As i once heard an ex-rugby coach who had just been sacked say in his own defence - you can't make a pavlova out of cowpats.

I bet on carlton not making the 8 this year on betfair about 6 weeks ago and i am feeling more and more comfortable with that bet as time goes by.

His inside game is obviously still elite.

But his 06-mid 07 form was a level above the rest of the competition. I kind of miss seeing him like that, even though he does play for Carlton now.

I still don't get why people consider Ablett Jnr to be a better than Judd at his best. No one could even compare.

i watched closely last night and they look very lost.

its pre-season,
but henderson's fumbles and that out on the full shank was not promosing.

kruezer goes ok up forward but is not a forward.

betts and garlett are just crumbers. did well because fev was there to take the defenders and bring the ball to ground for them.

yarran looks ok, looked a touch sluggish and isnt a focal point,
he likes getting the ball loose.

setanta o'hailpin at CHF.... talk about patching up holes.

they have a few other 2nd string guys but not one guy they can rely on and beat out a scarlett, glass, rutten week by week.

most likely to miss the 8 imo

Did nothing in the intra-club match either.

Hey our forward line is not even in the top 8 of the comp yet!

Maybe we should worry about our own before we joke at others.
