The thread writing him off was premature. This is BigFooty, it feeds off hyperbole.

And anyway all I've said is I've recalibrated my faith back to realistic levels. How is that premature?

Losing against the camrys is difficult , but bringing out the pitchforks and marching to Kens house from the mall in round 2 was perhaps a tad early. Round 2 . ???????

We've got a long way to go before Hinkley has regained my faith.

We are still bottom 2 in clearances, luckily we played the side that was ranked 17th and best them in that area.

We also still have traded and drafted poorly for a while with a poorly balanced 'outside player' heavy list.

To turn my opinion around we need to demonstrate sustained improvement in the clearances, improved defensive structure when losing clearances and an ability to recapture our best ball movement.

Out of curiosity what more do you want to see?

He's coaching a list ravaged by injury, lost 2 key components to suspension and out of necessity he's changed a few things and the group is growing into the season.

All in all he's doing the best he can with what he's got. Now the players are doing their bit the last 2 weeks and bringing the required effort.

Don't see what more Ken can do.

That's why I said, we can't judge him until next year

I'm not sure being forced to innovate because of injuries and omissions is quite the same as innovating when not pressured, but I'm glad it has happened, anyway.
I'm perversely relieved that Lobbe's injury has forced us into the alternatives of playing Trengove, Howard and friends in the ruck. I don't think Ken would have been prepared to keep Lobbe out of the team for more than a couple of weeks, even if we were winning clearances despite losing the Hit Outs.

The comment in the GameDay Thread that noted that Ken would have led us to finals last year if he pulled the trigger on Lobbe early in the 2015 season is spot on.

A tricky one for me. Really positive response in the last two weeks. Was starting to think we were bottom 6 material. Recent change and creativity in the coaching box has responded to a lot of criticisms. I agree that the coaches appear to have lost their way over summer ( past two summers?) but now seem to be reverting to the teams strengths. If ken can get them in top 8 form / keep up this form. then my faith will strengthen. I am still wanting to see port become a physically stronger team longer term. Ie Geelong/ Sydney.

I'm not convinced yet, but I'm very close to getting the Renault Dauphine out of hybernation, filling it up with juice, revving the living f*** out of it, and charging down Brighton road at 55 kph, whilst giving the gendarmes the finger.

Life is good. (atm) ;)

Hey 54...I thought about you a couple of weeks ago. On the Anzac Day coverage on the ABC News website they showed an image of Bev Harrell and the Vibrants on their home page.

Ah Bev Harrell and the Vibrants performing at a venue ( now owned by the salvos ), on the corner of Morphett and Sturt roads in 1966.
I was too young to attend of course, but I heard about it.

The Pitman Hall is as close as I can recall for the name of the venue. Somehow or other when i was about 15, I weaseled my way into the Princeton Club and saw Bev Harrell perform. She was great live. She went to Vietnam to entertain our troops and I remember her with fondness.

At least we now know that Ken has the balls to make changes and some very good ones, having faith in pittard when most of used to cover our eyes when he got the ball. Young forward, Impy up the ground and the fantastic inclusion of DBJ. I have the faith again.

Credit to the coaches, they got alot right this week. But I'll be closer to faith restored with 4 points next week against Carlton and then having a decent crack at West Coast.
