Thommo's a good bloke and glad he's playing good footy. But he chose to left, we didn't want him too so he's obviously gonna cop it when we play them (from the players).

He did make remark about how the Roos were handling the form slump better than Hawthorn did when he was here. That was the only thing I can remember him saying

Really, are you sure. The first time I saw him play for them against us every player made an effort to get to him and shake his hand, most stopped for a chat. Given all the crap that may have been thrown at him this was an immense statement from the players to a mate.

Yes he's a good bloke and just because he left the club doesn't mean the players are no longer friends and the attitude (from kipster) demonstrating abandonment issues (he left us he sucks) is just childish.

Hope he doesn't do to well all the same as I want to win this game, regardless.

Thommo was a hawk and sadly he chose to move, like him I suggest we move on as well.

There was a thread on this around the time of those comments and a several Hawk fans on this board got owned, not by North fans, but by fellow Hawk fans.

We both did excellently out of that deal and there is - apart from the odd knob on here - zero bad blood between the Thomo and the Hawks.

FWIW, you'll win tomorrow and good luck to you.

OMG!!!

in thommos humblest opinion he thinks that the 'Hawks dealt with there losing patch not aswell as the Roos did'.

belt the bugger!!!

eva think it might've been the truth?

He was part of the Hawthorn team, left (which I don't have a problem with) and played for North. He did talk about the team, and said we didn't handle it well.

Well the flipside is his team-mates still stayed and showed loyalty to the club. Thommo is the one who bailed, not his team-mates, so maybe it was just himself who didn't handle it very well, for different reasons I know.

I know Vanders was pretty upset with him for leaving.

It's doubtless just another stigma of depression that we assume it means the sufferer will not be a good leader.

Thommo is a very good leader. In nearly 40 years of watching the Hawks, I've seen few players who so consistently exhibit their very best right in the critical moments of games. His self-imposed spell on the bench for the 'Roos earlier this year was the exception that proved the rule.

His "Kangas are handling the form slump better than Hawthorn" was not meant to be a slur on the Hawks at all. To read it as such is narrow-minded. It was a well-timed comment that probably helped the Kangaroos turn around some pretty tough times. Another feather in his cap.

I wish Thommo all the best. He was great for us, and is clearly a very valuable player for the Kangaroos.

No need to belt him.

I hope he has a great and long career.

I also hope he doesn't get a kick against the Hawks. I'm happy for him to have to live with that kind of depression. ;)

I've always liked Thommo and still enjoy watching him kick bags of goals (execpt against us) - you have to ask what happened at the club for him to want to move?

I think that once he made public he suffered from depression he made changes to his life to try and fix the problem.

If moving to the Kangas has alleviated it in any way then I'm happy for the bloke.

It's all in the past now and we have all moved on - time to close the book on this one.

Low blow:thumbsdown:

I'm with Chogobad, hope Thommo is BOG, but in a losing side. There's more likelihood of jumper-punches between Jade and Trent, and I hope there IS, than ill-feeling toward Thommo.

Well, Im going to go against the grain here and say any player who leaves the club you are playing for should be, hit harder, sledged harder and do anything you can to make their day a ****hole.

Sure you can shake his hand afterwards and then met up for a drink and a cuddle then.

During the game....... as someone has already put it "belt the bugger"
No hard feeling, thats football.

There will be passion about this clash, both by player and paid-up-supporter. Haven't they beaten us the last five. I remember early last season at the G. sitting not far from the HFC cheer squad when Harvey and Harris drilled goals, and Harris serve it up to us Hawthorn supporters. That's the passion that makes our game great, but still safe to wear your colours home on public transport, come win, lose or draw...........We need to get this bogey off our back, a bogey that goes back to the days of Waverley, Carey and the great Langers. GO HAWKS

he was depressed, it is an illness...he couldn't help that

he didn't force the illness on himself.

thommo would've wanted to stal loyal, but he was suffering from a very dangerous illness, he had to move...pls dont take thommo's move so personally hawk fans

good post :)

The day has dawned, 5 degrees in Melb., imagine those players on the HFC list who have clouds over their futures, and have to play the early curtain-raiser in balmy Launceston..........is that dew or un-adulterated ice on the ground ?................It'll make them tougher !
