Not really travelling when first 5 games were in Victoria, then once in the South East Queensland hub 8 games in South East Queensland

13 of 17 home and away games didn’t have to travel to
dress it up how you want but we won the flag when we had to play away from home most of the year, other teams didnt win the flag hence we handled it better and are the best.

Richmond travelled 6 times in 2020 = 4 wins

Richmond travelled 6 times in 2019 = 4 wins

Richmond travelled 5 times in 2018 = 1 win

Richmond travelled 6 times in 2017 = 4 wins
lolol nice try mate, we all knew the original argument was tiges cant win flag away from g

we won the flag away from g yet there is still cry babies peddling excuses.

mate the flag will always mostly be at the g, this year due to covid was a great chance to see if we could win away from the g like you desperate oppo fans wanted, and we did that lol. even though we didnt have to we passed all your desperate attempts to downplay our flag, win with injuries? done, win a final interstate ? done win a flag away from home ? done

what do you guys want lol for every team to play at their home against us in the season for our flag to count? LOLOL , even if that happened we would still win, we are a great travelling side anyway as we are a close group

so your argument of can we win away from home is invalid now as we did that the FIRST chance we got hahahah

its over oppo fans, we are the best and you just gotta live with it. other teams did it is irrelevant as we won the flag so obviously we handled it better.

Richmond the team are a joy to watch. Shame about their supporters.
you cant blame us when we have been given shit since day 1, we aint letting up, especially with all the desperate excuses last year trying undermine our success lolol, some of which were outside our control, like we could control who we could play, ppl here were basically wanting us to recall the spirits of hawks 13-15 and geelogn 2007 to play against for our flags to count. you guys deserve the egg on your face

Nah not at all, find them boring. I have no self worth invested in the team I support, I enjoy watching them in the moment and I've always really enjoyed the list management side of things in sport. Two things I don't get: people who gain confidence because the sporting team they support do well, and people who worship sports players.
well obviously you find it boring as your team has been pure garbage for over 2 decades

Can you mob seriously not go a week without needing to start another thread to validate your belief in how great you are? Bath water must taste pretty good hey?

I particularly noticed how great it was when you beat Freo ‘on the road’ at Metricon... how many other of those games were against fellow travelling teams?
But we are great.

I waited 35 years to be smug

Perth to Bris/Gold Coast, Perth to Tas go close, especially if you are unlucky enough to have bad weather.

I could have been more accurate and written 4-5.356 hours...would you like me to go back and edit my post?

Yes please since perth brisbane is 4 hours 30 mins, perth gc is 5 hours 10 and flying to tassie is once every few years and still only 5 hours 30.

You put 6 to make it seem like getting on a plane is some 1960s ordeal.

Going by this theory anytime a team lands a day before a game, by game day they technically haven’t “travelled”
Keep moving the goal posts west coast supporters.

I don't think you quite understand the word advantage...

Imagine you and 17 of your classmates are sitting an exam. I give everyone else a 10% advantage. Is it possible that you still can out perform them all? Of course it is. Now you were top of the class well done (credit where credit is due), but do you think it was fair that the other 17 were given an advantage? Of course you wouldn't.

Just because you won the flag doesn't eradicate the fact that 7 straight games at the MCG leading into finals was an advantage. One that you obviously didn't get this year.
I know this is an astonishingly difficult point to grasp, but you do realise that Richmond playing 7 games in a row at the G meant that they had a period earlier in the season where they played at the G only once in 6 weeks? Unless we beat your mob in Freo, Port in Adelaide, GC on the GC, and St Kilda and Sydney at Marvel we would have been out of finals contention by round 16, and you would have been cheering the exact same fixture that you are currently still whinging about.

I don’t think you quite understand though. Our home ground is at the MCG. The first time we had home ground advantage there was Round 16 against GWS. The rest were relatively neutral games for us there (Melbourne, Collingwood, Geelong, Essendon, Hawthorn and Carlton). Not even any of the Marvel tenants, who I would have counted as genuine away teams at the MCG for us.

In fact, Sydney at Marvel Stadium was basically the only home ground disadvantage we had in the first 16 rounds.

So in your analogy, this student was given a 10% advantage over the rest of the students in the first part, and then the tables were turned when the others were given the 10% advantage in the second half.

Swings and roundabouts.

Awkward because West Coast only travelled 3 times in 2020. I don’t see any West Coast Premiership in 2020.

Also, you kinda can’t use travel because Richmond won a PF at AO and a QF at the Gabba last year.

Our journey was 5 games in VIC, 2 games in QLD, 1 game in NSW, 2 games in QLD, 1 game in AO, 1 game in QLD, 1 game in NT, 3 games in QLD, 1 game in AO. We didn’t have a whole lot of consistency in remaining in the hub until the end. It’s not like we stayed there for weeks unlike Brisbane, who played in QLD 12 straight games and West Coast who only changed states 3 times. Port Adelaide changed states more than Richmond, but they only played in 2 states and had a stronger home ground advantage playing in front of their home crowd.

St Kilda had an easier passage and Western Bulldogs was on par with Richmond I’d say.

Geelong and Collingwood had a rougher fixtures, but towards the end of the season they had enough games in QLD to put them in good stead.

The bottom line is that Richmond didn’t have a crazy fixturing advantage over its fellow top 8 teams and still won the Premiership. Simplifying our fixture to “oh but you played this many games in the state you called home” is very misleading.

Don't think that is a solid argument. Would you rather play Geelong at the Cattery or at the MCG, would you rather play Essendon at Marvel or the G? Secondly The fact that you get to settle in and play your brand on your oval for a length of time, not having to tweak game plans for fields or have players get on or off flights when they may have niggles etc... is an advantage anyway you look at it.

I know this is an astonishingly difficult point to grasp, but you do realise that Richmond playing 7 games in a row at the G meant that they had a period earlier in the season where they played at the G only once in 6 weeks? Premierships aren't won in May. Hey remember that time that Sydney were 0-6 (2017). They made it all the way to a semi final. So no the season isn't gone and hey if you don't beat FREO & GC did you really deserve to be there :) As said above, being able to become familiar with the ground, not having to tweak game plans for grounds and to be completely comfortable in your surroundings leading into the biggest game of the year is an advantage. One that you would take every year if granted to you.

Ask the question in reverse would you prefer to have the period mentioned earlier in the first half of the year? or just before finals? or do you see it as being completely neutral?

Then what do you call it when a team has to play 16 games straight on the road to win the premiership?
I’d call it damn impressive. And it’s certainly silenced a lot of the detractors that used that weak argument last year.
Richmond won 13 games outside their home state this year. Has that ever been bettered? I very much doubt it. Possibly the greatest travelling side of all time
Thank you for this magnificent thread. It has brought out the salt, delicious.

Seriously though, how good are Richmond?!
I know right, nearly as good as Cotchin’s magnificent feathers.
Better than the rest, quite comfortably.

I don't recall ever saying you can't win away from home as it is quite obvious you have. I didn't downplay your premiership either.

This is like those conversations where someone says "that was the reason Germany lost the war".
Like there aren't hundreds of other contributing factors.
They lost the war because Hitler got in front of himself and found his troops invading Russia under resourced in the freezing winter. Spread his troops to thin.
Bit like Freo over the journey, always getting to far ahead of themselves. One day.
Richmond are the ducks nuts, anywhere...anytime.

Richmond and Geelong both did amazingly well this year considering the circumstances.

staying at a 6 star resort with your team mates?

Boy, They Sure Did It Tough !!!!

lmao
