If you didn't barrack for Carlton ...

Probably Hawthorn I'd say most likely:), I do have a soft spot for a few clubs/teams Dogs,North & Swans to name some:D.

Either Melbourne or North Melbourne for me I would have thought. Hard to imagine though - as a kid I might have been lured by the pretty Tiger or perhaps the poos and wees of Hawthorn.

The only alternative for me would be if we had a proper, bonafide Tassie team. Not one of those whores from Victoria like Norf or the Hawks, but a proper team.

As it is, if they bring one in one day, I'll still be a Carlton man, but I'd have to admit the Tassie team would be kind of my second team.

Hard to imagine but my entire family, including inlaws nephews nieces etc are Richmond.

I sort of followed them as a kid and when I decided that I needed to follow my own team my two best mates went for Collingwood and Carlton when they played that year approx 1991 or 1992 I said the winner of that game would be my team.

Lucky for me the mighty blues won. Imagine the alternative! I would have to have had teeth extracted gross.

If Carlton never existed: The Dockers. Live in Perth and they are less boganny than the Weagles.

If Carlton ceased to exist: Probably nobody, and I would probably lose interest in the league, though I'd still tune in for finals I suppose. Would pour my money into the A-league and Perth Glory, and support my WAFL team, East Perth.

Simple fact is that if my Grandfather hadn't died the year before I was born I would have been a Hawks supporter as he would have taken me to games.
If my father had taken me to games on a Saturday instead of playing golf, I would have been a Collingwood supporter.

But I had to use my own good judgement and make my own way in the world of VFL.

Go Blues.

When I was a kid, most of my family and friends went for the Crows, but I just couldn't bring myself to go for them. 1993 was a confusing year trying to pick a team. I almost picked Geelong, however I also really liked Carlton. The moment I knew I was Carlton and there was no going back, was when I was so upset seeing Michael Long's goal awarded in the 93 GF .... It was so touched by SOS!!!!!

95 confirmed that I chose the right team (although 2007 - 2011 kinda points and laughs at me often).

Can't imagine not barracking for the Blues. Back in 85 I played my one and only U19 game for another club and had my Blues jumper in changerooms. Had my shower and 2 hours later was at PP watching the Blues! Lol

My father's side are all Carlton supporters, mother's side all hawthorn supporters. I guess I would of been a hawthorn supporter if I wasn't a Carlton supporter. If I had to choose though, I would pick geelong. They kindly gave us the flag in 95, and did us all a favor in the 2011 final by successful quarantine of the filth.

WHAT?!!

The '95 flag was OURS!! No-one "gave" it to us.
Geelong were merely the last unfortunate team to stand in the way - and we crushed them.

Sadly, I've been there, growing up in Sydney as a Bears supporter in the NRL, on the wrong end of the 1999 merger (and 2002 demerger) with Manly. That merger never sat well with proper Norths supporters (think how a Saints fan would feel after a merger with Carlton and you'd be somewhere near the mark), but the 'Northern Eagles' was a darn sight better than the 'Manly Sea Eagles' that the license reverted to three years later. I walked away from the NRL, and it was easy. Never watched a game since, no State of Origin, no nothing.

In proper footy, probably Geelong, as my great-uncle captained the club (led them to their last spoon I think :$, post-war). Fortunately I didn't learn any of this until I was rusted on to the Blues (and that didn't take much: half an hour as a six-year-old in a room full of Collingwood supporters before the opening bounce of the 1979 Grand Final got it done :)).
