Just a summary thread of which players aren't fully fit.

This article http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-16/foot-worry-for-darling states:

"Key defender Eric Mackenzie (hip surgery), veteran backman Beau Waters (shoulder), midfielder Sharrod Wellingham (knee/shin) and tall utility Jeremy McGovern (hip) are on light pre-Christmas duties in their returns from injury."

Also Darling obviously.

Others:
  • Maginness was wearing a moon-boot thing.
  • Newman out for a few weeks with an ankle.
Any others?

Hopefully this is a very short thread

I'm not convinced our medicos / fitness staff have done a particularly good job in recent times. It's something we really need to get right to give us the best chance of improving next year

Yep, after what feels like a lot of injuries over the last couple of years I'd be interested to know if the club has made any changes or if they feel they know why. Last year was particularly frustrating as we started with nearly a full fit list but steadily lost players throughout the season.

Obviously these players were doing more than 45 min of training per day!

Reading that does not fill me with confidence. And I normally look at the positives about things.

Or it's just bad luck keyser. Sometimes people just get injured and even the best medicos can do nothing about it.

There are a number of incidents that strike me as being odd:

- the handling of NN over the past 3 or 4 seasons. They have played him underdone in a number of dead rubbers that have resulted in delays to his pre-season. Hopefully, that cycle is now broken

- Beau Waters post-op infection. Anyone that has ever had any tissue infection can tell you it is extremely painful? How can it get to the point that the infection ate away so much tissue that it was doubt Beau's shoulder could again handle the rigours of AFL.

- Scott Selwood's undiagnosed fractured foot.

Then there are general phrases I hear getting bandied around in press conferences, such as "We're confident playing won't cause further damage to the injury." Htf could playing footy on a fractured foot not cause further damage? At the absolute least you'd think it would significantly increase the recovery period.

If I had my way, any player that fails to report an injury will be sent to the WAFL for twice the length of their eventual recovery period. Get injured players off the field and get some games into our depth players, so it doesn't take 5 years to work out if they are any bloody good or not.

Maybe this is what Kane Lucas meant when he said there may be a position in the midfield.

As for Selwood, I think its time we move him to defense because his body isn't holding up in the midfield. Will allow him to run in straight lines and put less stress on those feet.

Agree, though his kicking doesn't fill me with much confidence. Maybe it was foot related though.
