So, dajesmac ?
Feels pretty good man
At least you've played footy
Imagine just being a football "commentator".
Not ex player. Not coach. Not legend. Not even an actualler caller of the game.
Purely someone who talks on a podcast nobody listens to, and is asked for an opinion at draft time, or when the VFL needs some content in the offseason.

Imagine having been so good at one thing (a player) that no matter how bad you were at another thing (mediocre coach who resorted to a systematic doping regime - your team still barely made the finals with that doping regime) then getting caught, fired, banned, club stripped of picks and points, fined, game in to disrepute, senior assistant coach who was a premiership coach end up becoming a drug addicted drug dealer because of you, players careers ended, etc. and you're hailed as the saviour of another club when you get a part time gig...
Really? Really?
the fact that he is ever allowed near a team in any coaching role is staggering in itself... surely there are other coaches out thereThat's just Robbo though, he's such a Hird and Essendon fan boy he's even dumber than he usually is with them.
The good old days of the debate between Hird-Buckley-Voss and who was the better player.
Just shows being a great player doesn't make you a great coach.
I'm a firm believer that exceptional players rarely make good coaches. They just can't relate to the (relatively speaking) limited ability of players that comprise the bulk of the list.
I don't think that rule carries much weight, my neighbour. His name is Nisbett not Nesbit. You know ....."i before e except after c".
Twiggy, is that you?I don't think that rule carries much weight, my neighbour.
Leigh Matthews & Malcolm Blight probably the only modern premiership coaches who had a playing career just as good as coaching.
Woosha, Simmo, Roos & Goodwin you could make an argument.
Ross Lyon's playing career was as good as his coaching. From Fitzroy and the Bad News Bears, to St Kilda and Freo. What a ride.
Lyon got one side to a grand final who haven't got to one is 25 other seasons
While he got the saints the closest they've got to a flag for almost 60 years.
I know it's easy to rip him (fun too) but he is a good coach. Even if one that has a limited lifespan
Other thing you need to worry about is you mention Ross Lyon too many times, Freomaniac will quote your post in 6-7 months time and post some irrelevant story about him.
It's like a time delay Beetlejuice
fixedHe was very good at getting the most out of players of limited talent and getting full but in to his system. It's just that his system was sh*t and he playedfavouritesthose with credits in the bank.
