Not ex player. Not coach. Not legend. Not even an actualler caller of the game.

Purely someone who talks on a podcast nobody listens to, and is asked for an opinion at draft time, or when the VFL needs some content in the offseason.

Imagine having been so good at one thing (a player) that no matter how bad you were at another thing (mediocre coach who resorted to a systematic doping regime - your team still barely made the finals with that doping regime) then getting caught, fired, banned, club stripped of picks and points, fined, game in to disrepute, senior assistant coach who was a premiership coach end up becoming a drug addicted drug dealer because of you, players careers ended, etc. and you're hailed as the saviour of another club when you get a part time gig...

the fact that he is ever allowed near a team in any coaching role is staggering in itself... surely there are other coaches out there

I'm a firm believer that exceptional players rarely make good coaches. They just can't relate to the (relatively speaking) limited ability of players that comprise the bulk of the list.

Of recent times the GOAT coach has been Alistair Clarkson, and most people would struggle to remember his playing career.

If anything the things he's most remembered for his role in the 1987 'Battle of Britain' exibition match when he broke a Carlton players jaw
