There is no way known they will play Sis foward, he just sets up play so well from down back.
there was a kick in the first quarter yesterday I don't think anyone else on our list currently could have pulled off.

he got the ball under pressure and kicked around the smother attempt to hit up a team mate

Clarko is going to want that more than the goals he would kick up forward, he will setup more than he would score directly
Spot on.

Every day of the week if you ask me.

I hope we sign Meadows before next weeks clash with Carlton, would love to see him play in that game and really see what he can provide.

Some promising reports, looks like we are finally building some depth through the midfield... Tell me again how the hell did Worpel last to us in the draft? His selection was pure robbery, looking forward to his development and can really see him become a 24-25 possession inside mid this year.
Morrison at 74 tops that!

Got to say was very impressed with how sharp our ball movement and ball handling was even having regard to the intraclub status of the game. Not to mention the set shot kicking for goal which was generally very good. We look fit. Slim and fit. Burger, Poppy and Rough in particular look rejuvenated. Got a bit scrappy later in the game when the heat went out of it and it turned into circle work but plenty of run. Poppy ran riot out of the midfield in the last quarter.

We have got another band of smalls coming through with Dylan Moore leading the charge. He is a gem. Michington flashed in and out. Doesn't tend to get involved a lot but what he does is good.

Not sure the negative comments on Cuz he got to the drop of the ball at stoppages as well if not more than anyone. Works very hard and accumulates.

Shiels was in everything. Meadows a real surprise and again was in everything - worked hard got to good spots - certainly got enough size. Made an effort to look at his kicking and he hit targets regularly. Doesnt look a penetrating kick but well and truly up to the grade being one of the better players out there. Sort of a bit like an Ed Curnow perhaps.

No.34 in the blue tall left footer who kicked a beauty on the run looked promising. Was hoping it was Jones but it wasnt so perhaps was a top up player. A few others i didnt recognise - 11 with the fuzzy hair for the orange, 11 for the blue, another bloke Macca running around. Andrew Moore the BH premiership skipper also topped up.

Mohr's positioning and body work was first class. Outpointed Mitch Lewis regularly. Looked really solid down back. Puts some real pressure on Frawley form-wise which is great. As per his time at GWS he tends to just boot the ball long from the back half. Brand's 2nd half was as per his really promising VFL form in the 2nd half of last year. TOB as well was pretty settled in the back half.

Scrimshaw looks a real find. Looks to have some aggression to when he wants to which is a bonus. Really good size.

Greaves is a nice type - smaller than i thought but very vocal, very clean and a good decision maker. Not sure what posi he ends up playing though given his size.

Cegs Pitto and Big Boy are all firing. Ned Reeves is a big unit but a long long way off. Not even VFL seniors ready for mine so would be very very surprised if he was rookied.

Mitch Lewis plays more of a roaming fwd than KP so don't get your hopes up on him being Rough's replacement in the contested marking space. He moved well without being dominant. Kicked a monster from outside 50. Showing real promise but perhaps not in the role most are hoping for.

Teia Miles had a bit of it but turned it over much more regularly than normal.

Worps kicked a beauty after a double fend off. He looked great when he was out there. Jaeger all class with a great goal. Really starting to use the jets to break away from trouble which is a great sign.

The others all played typical games Smith, Bruest, Gunners, Sic, Harry, Hendo, Stratts, . Ross and Hanrahan two of the quieter ones but some constructive passages. I think i picked up Walker for a while and liked what i saw but with the jumper swapping he and Michington looked a bit similar other than Michingtons bright wheels.

Definately a stronger squad in 2019 than 2018 for mine. Have cut the list well and drafted and traded well. Whether that is reflected on the ladder at the end of 2019 I am not sure.
Excellent report, really enjoyed reading that, thanks!

The man emboldened, he has stepped up in recent years with the departures of Mitch, Hodge, Lewy etc, needs to make another step up of a similar magnitude this year with Titch missing.

You've got to laugh.

Morison was our TOP pick at 74 and he's a better player now, and will continue to be, than the number 1 pick (McGrath) !!
Then we took Mitch Lewis at 76.

But look who was pick number 7
Jack Scrimshaw.
And we got him with a trade swap of 3rd and 4th round picks.

Laugh? I could have cried !

Did Burgoyne play forward? He did that last pre-season as well but it did not last. Would love to see play fwd on a consistent basis. Would kick 40 imo. Only problem being the explosive nature of leading and locking the ball in the fwd 50 might have on ageing calf's and hammies.
Does it really matter? Burgoyne plays wherever he’s needed. From all reports, he hasn’t lost much pace and is naturally elusive, and has the smarts that the average player lacks. The old “in case of emergency ......” hopefully still applies. Simply an amazing player!

We were saying the same thing about Jono O'Rourke a few years back though. Hoping Scrimshaw delivers on his early promise...

Now where exactly is that 2016 Hawthorn draft disaster thread on the MB...?:think::think::think:

Picking up Luke Meadows could be a big win for us. Much the same as S.Menegola and T.Kelly for the Cats, Barlow for Freo, A.Miles for Richmond etc I'm sure I've forgotten a few others. Ed Curnow as someone mentioned earlier.

All being selected as mature-aged recruits, and doing very well for their clubs (for 1 or 2 years at least).

Here's hoping for a similar start at the Hawks if we did pick him up.
