I definitely would for Buddy and Hodge, but in the real world we wouldn't even get Buddy for a straight swap. To make a Gibbs trade worthwhile, we would need to be seriously bending someone over. It's not going to happen.

Let me put it this way, some deals can be win/win, but if we were to do a trade involving Gibbs, there could be no win/win deal. Either we would get some ridiculous dream deal where we are given massive overs, or we would lose out.

There is such a thing as a mutually benefical trade remember. We dont have to be trying to bend anyone over (or getting reamed ourselves) at all.

We trade Gibbs (a fantastic young player, probable future captain of whatever club he goes to, pssible elite talent, potential brownlow medallist and former number 1 draft pick) we would expect something of equal value in return.

Sorry, I must have missed something. Jackson Trengrove appears to be the new wayne Carey if we're willing to trade a player the calibre of Gibbs for him.

Trengrove alone wouldnt do it.

Gibbs is a proven quality player and has experience and youth on his sde.

We would need a pick in the top ten (or a Boak) as well to make it happen IMO.

As said previously if we can't offer enough with what we are willing to trade then we should just hold tight and back carlos,lachie, and the rookie list lads to get by along with the draft.

I dont want us to 'get by'.

Yeah me too. I just don't see how trading a talent like Gibbs will help us win a flag. I'm sure kreuzer and Murphy have high trade value as well, should we here offers for them? Gibbs doesn't play footy like joel Selwood, that doesn't make him surplus.

Port need a ruckman and they'll need a backman. We've got them to spare

Now, it's a market thing - Trengove wants to come home, if he's up for trade it's a question of who's offering what is most beneficial for Port.

It may take a Gibbs in which case we won't trade, or it may take something less like a ruckman and a backman, in which case we'll be interested

Gibbs has indicated he doesn't want to go home, hence his recent singing with Carlton. It's rare that interstate players leave Victoria, it's more common that Victorian players leave the interstate club for which they play
