Is Tippett's season over?

2 games and % clear from 5th, with 5 games we'll be favourites in and the other (vs Geelong) that we could win as well.

top 4 is basically wrapped up, top 2 is the question, get through Geelong and we probably have that.

And what an undeserved top four spot it is.

Gotta love bitter Port fans. On our way to the finals (probably top 4) whilst Port are languishing in the bottom third of the ladder with no light at the end of the tunnel :D.
Apparently its not probably top 4, thats a lock, its top 2 and this has nothing to do with you being crows supporters, its arrogance that I hate, any one could of said it and I would of wished for the same thing

The crows are now a shoo in for top two - they'll have failed if they don't capitalise on the disgustingly easy draw they have. The thing is though, Adelaide is not a long trip from Melbourne, so having to play the weakest top four team interstate is probably not any worse than playing a strong top four team at home. Thank goodness the Swans will maintain their dominance over the Crows.:thumbsu:

Swans dominate the Crows? When did that happen?

Do you even take interest in watching interstate teams play each other?

Undeserved? Last year we had a soft draw and we didn't even make the finals. Surely if you can take advantage of things like your draw, you deserve to be there? And it's not like we are just beating crap teams, we've had a few good wins as well. Are we the real deal? Well, I guess time will tell. But right now, we deserve to be in the top 4. If you compare the top 5, the wins/losses look like this:

Sydney:
Won Against decent opposition: Hawthorn, Essendon, Geelong, West Coast and St Kilda
Won Against easier opponents: GWS, Freo, Port, North, Melb, WB, Brisbane
Lost Against: Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda

Adelaide:
Won against decent opposition: Sydney, Geelong, Carlton, St Kilda, West Coast
Won Against easier opponents: Bulldogs, GWS x 2, Port x 2, Richmond, Fremantle
Lost Against: Hawthorn, Collingwood, North

Hawthorn:
Won against decent opposition: Collingwood x 2, Adelaide, St Kilda, Carlton
Won Against easier opposition: Melbourne, Freo, North, Port, Brisbane, GWS, Bulldogs
Lost Against: Geelong, West Coast, Sydney, Richmond

Collingwood:
Won against decent opposition: Essendon, Geelong x 2, Adelaide, West Coast
Won Against easier opposition: Richmond, Port, Bulldogs, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Freo
Lost Against: Hawthorn x 2, Carlton x 2

West Coast:
Won against decent opposition: Hawthorn, St Kilda, Carlton
Won Against easier opposition: Bulldogs, Melbourne, Brisbane, Richmond, North x 2, Freo, Gold Coast
Lost Against: Essendon, Collingwood, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide

Definite question marks over him, at least for the rest of the H/A season. Will need 3-4 weeks to recover from repeated head injuries, or he risks cutting his career horribly short.

Hopefully for the Crows sake Walker doesn't make any more dodgy tackles and get suspended.

huh?
I'm looking at a ladder that does not only takes into account the first game vs each team.
You do know Adelaide is above Hawthorn?

You better be hoping one of Essendon, Brisbane or Melbourne can beat us while you sweep Essendon and Gold Coast. Then maybe, just maybe, might Hawthorn be more deserving of finishing above Adelaide.

I presume he'll want a piece of our flag action, so no, his season isn't over

Frankly Tippett is vital to our team. Obviously. We have been doing just fine without him but we need him there for finals. Just like Hawthorn has been crushing opponents without Buddy but their supporters would just as well concede that he is a vital part of their forward set up. So I don't really think we need to be arguing about what constitutes a vital element of our run to the finals. And obviously we are well placed but it's simply the truth that if we say drop a game against Geelong then suddenly we are right back in the pack in the hunt for the top 4 and people start calling for Tip to be rushed in.

My thoughts on Tippett: do whatever is best for him medically.

I doubt his season is over, they'll wrap him in cotton wool for a few weeks though. There's no definitive proof that repeated concussions can cause problems later in life. However, the club will look after him.

If you look at the incidents, they were all just pure bad luck that could have happened to anyone, it's not like he copped a slight innocuous knock that he should've been fine but he developed concussion symptoms. In the two I remember clearly, he slammed his head into the back of someone elses skull which would leave most people feeling pretty ordinary.

IMO, they'll give him a few weeks off and bring him back against Melbourne in round 22 to give him a couple of weeks to get match fit again before the finals.

Give him a rest for a few weeks, throw him a helmet in an attempt to minimalise effect of concussions (can still get concussion with helmets but lessens severity yes?), and keep a constant watch on him.

I'm sure the club doctors won't just throw him to the wolves - if he shows signs of forgettfulness etc over the next couple of weeks, he won't play for the next few weeks.

Tippett isn't vital, he has barely touched it in the past five weeks or so. The Crows have been getting decent winning scores via half their team except Tippett and Walker. In the game against West Coast, for example:

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/16931/Default.aspx#fixtureid=7797&tab=Recap

GOALS
Adelaide: Vince 4, Porplyzia 3, Dangerfield, Johncock, Sloane, Jenkins 2, Douglas, Wright, van Berlo, Jacobs

Tippett none. Walker didn't play.

In the game before against GWS:

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/16931/Default.aspx#fixtureid=7792&tab=Recap

GOALS
Adelaide: Porplyzia 4, Callinan 4, Sloane 3, Vince 3, Douglas 2, Jacobs 2, Thompson 2, Lynch 2, Smith, Jenkins, Van Berlo, Rutten, Mackay

Tippett and Walker none (neither played).

In the game before that against Port:

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/16931/Default.aspx#fixtureid=7781&tab=Recap

GOALS
Adelaide: Henderson 6, Martin 3, McIntyre 2, Dangerfield, Douglas, Knights, Porplyzia, Sloane, Tippett

Walker didn't play. Tippett got one, so just one goal in the last three weeks.

Walker comes back next round so that will be handy. Tall forwards will become Jenkins/Jacobs interchanging with ruck, and Walker. Vince has been moved to the half forward flank (Wright is now playing midfield). Henderson (ankle) might be available again in a week or so.

You're really pointing to games against GWS, Port and WC? Laughable.

How is it laughable? Any game at all would suffice to show that Adelaide can win without Tippett having a big influence. It is not meant to be showing that Adelaide are playing well, only that they are doing as well as they happen to be doing without getting a huge return (in goals) from Tippett.
