Isaac Quaynor injury

In the modern spirit of "nothing can be just an accident" they'll need to check the ground thoroughly for any debris/sprinklers etc, plus also Quaynors boots as well as Wicks. Nothing weird about cuffing/scraping your own studs on your other leg, but unlikely right at front like that. Bizzare clean slice. Never seen anything like it. Worst scrapes are usually in marking contests/back of calf.

Anyway, if it saves just one life it will all be worth it.

If it's not a banned boot which seems to be the case, for a senior coach to come out and accuse a first game player of cheating is unprofessional and a real shithouse act. Then when called out shrugs his shoulders and says I got told by players they were bad. Nothing would make me happier than seeing this arrogant piece of sh*t end his career with not a Grand Final win to his name.
What a deflection. Making out the issue is about Buckley.
Buckley’s comments, taken from what his players had told him, have proven to be correct.
You got that - he is correct.

Where did he accuse anyone of cheating? Or are you making an unfounded accusation here. Happy to be proved wrong. If he was wearing metal studs then he is breaking the laws of the game

What happened the umpires checking studs before the game?
AFL getting away from grassroot traditions.

Cuts like that can definitely happen from studs, i have seen it before (although not quite that long). It is a perfect mix of high velocity and hitting at the right (or wrong) angle.

I am sure Wicks didnt know he was wearing 'illegal' boots and I am sure plenty of other players have worn them. Hopefully this acts as a reminder of all players and equipment managers across the league to ensure other players arent wearing similar.

It could also be worth looking at how sharp some of the plastic moulded studs are. Some of the rectangle shaped ones moulded with the super hard plastic have some nasty edges that could cause damage too.

Bad luck for IQ who was looking like one of Collingwood's positives in the last couple of weeks

And lol at the nuffies in here who will use any opportunity possible to melt down about Buckley / Collingwood. Calm down, I am sure Eddie will give you some Collingwood material to hyperventilate about any day now.

Going through the footage frame by frame I'm finding it hard to believe the studs caused the injury.

Picture 2: Start of the tackle/drag down the swans right foot impacts the in thigh above the knee.

Picture 3: Continuation of picture 2 the foot slides up the inner thigh

Picture 4: The right leg is stepping forward while left leg/foot of the swans player is grounded while the pies player is sliding.

Picture 5: Maybe it happened from the toes studs of the boot from the swans player left leg, only possible action where the cut could occur.

Picture 6: Swan player is falling down which will flatten the foot where the pies player was sliding and slid onto the sole of the shoe that was facing upwards.

My thought was the whole thing looked pretty innocuous- shocked to see quaynor’s leg and hope he recovers well. Doubt anything malicious there - either the boots need to be examined and modified or banned or perhaps it was a sprinkler head or cover pins? They would seem more likely. Buckley is a flog

For the life of me I can’t figure out how even metal studs could do that much damage.
I and everyone in my team played rugby with metal studs for more than 10 years and I’ve never seen anything like this at all, and we were deliberately racking at people with those studs in rucks.
Yeah you’d occasionally get some blood, but that looks like someone has gone at his leg with a razor blade
Could get some very sharp edges from all the walking on concrete they'd do between the rooms and the grass. Still have never understood why metal studs are even a thing though? What benefit do they have over plastic besides not wearing out as quick?

Older plastic studs can get nicks in them if you've had to run over concrete a bit to get on the ground too. The swans player may not be in the wrong, the AFL definitely need to find out how the injury happened.

Lol, it so clearly happens in pictures 5 and 6 that I can't tell whether you're actually being serious or not...

Think it happened before your first frame, partially obscured by other Swans player.

If you watch it in motion, there is a point (probably in picture 5 o r 6), where it looks like IQ's lower leg moves one way, then back again. There's some sort of contact made between Wicks' boot and IQ's leg. Hard to believe it would slice open the shin like that though.

I thought he'd somehow broken his leg, but even that seemed like an unusual outcome. Never expected this.

Hopefully IQ recovers well without any complications, and Wicks doesn't cop any undeserved blame. Freakish circumstance.

I don't think so. The wound is directly in the middle of the front leg and that's resting on the ground in 5 &6. Go and have another look at the picture of the wound.
