Interesting article;

It’s good - until this.

Chapman should exclude himself from the succession planning decision making; if Jackson, Carey and Hurley are happy to assist in a short term capacity, then engage them to select the new Board members AND Chairman, review the existing board composition for changes, and create a succession plan.
This infuriated me:

“my radar”

“I’ve got the options there”

“I’m completely comfortable we’re going to find the right person,”

14 years on our Board previously, including during the Tippet saga.

Looks like Rucci is going to continue writing articles along this theme. Personally I've enjoyed them. They seem devoid of his old biases.

Yeah his Indaily articles have been good.

He is a good writer when not in tabloid mode.

I'm a bit bamboozled here, trade Sloane, get rid of Smith, drop Tex, in fact the general consensus seems to be anybody that's played more than 100 games gotta go.
Of course we have to bring in youth, yet I'm not too sure who is suggested to lead these blokes , just as Rutten, Porps ,Thompson, Johncock etc did when the above mentioned were kicking off.
Most of those blokes were coming to the end of their career , yet that on field presence was invaluable.
Personally I take my hat off to them for hanging around with the Premiership window well and truly shut and showing a bit of "club culture" and leadership during a rebuild .

Is there any suitable chair in Adelaide that doesn't know Chapman?

The weasel has his fingers everywhere
On the flip side maybe Chapman is tolerated in certain circles due to the position he holds..
When he's finally gone and holds no positional power he might find that some of his pals no longer answer the phone.

I've noticed this as well and have begun to wonder whether it was his higher ups at The Advertiser (rather than him) "encouraging" the type and content of his articles which became almost a parody by the end.

I once heard/ read somewhere (probably on here) that of the four basic content types of SA related AFL footy articles (Crows - Good/ bad news, Port - Good/ Bad news) it was the Crows bad news ones that were the most popular.

Have to admit, I’ve always thought this thread was a massive reach, but last night a small part of my fanaticism died. Not because I don’t like the players, but because it became clear that this club could be run better by 3-4 working parents who only have an hour and 45 mins of free time to spare on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Welcome to the club and I'm sorry; it's a brutal realization to have about something you love so dearly.

Yep. It's just silly to talk about a team with no balance of experience.

Yes. Where we are, what we have become, descended to, is just no hiccup. We are in an extended world of pain. Major changes are needed otherwise the existing MO thinking will continue, but with a 'save my reputation' influence to predominate. Out Chapman.

This was supposed to be Chappy’s last year. He doesn’t want to go out with us at our lowest ever point (although it would be completely appropriate given his responsibility for where we are at). The worse we go, the less likely it is he goes, unless he’s pushed. He’ll use COVID and the need for experience in a rebuild as his excuse.

That's what happens in the business world. I'm surprised this surprises you. In Adelaide, you'd think it was even more incestuous than bigger cities.

Nah, the worse we go the more likely he goes. This is a stain on his record that he won't want. Especially if the mob down the road make a GF.

Hazel and McDowell are gone, they were 2 significant backers of El Chappo, coupled with Peter Hurley's comments.... The walls are closing in.

I dont think Hazel has officially gone and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any official comment that he was considering leaving

Smacks of throwing bodies to the masses in appeasement last year, then we will create an exit of our own choosing this year

But not out of any grace or dignity, realizing its for the best interests of the club.

They've just realized that a reckoning is coming for their incompetence if they stay. But if they jump before they're pushed they''ll be home free.

It’s a bit sad thinking that this club was 8-5 at the bye last year and has proceeded to go 2-15 in 17 games since then... ☹️

Good to see we're still backing the same players in week after week. The 2017 group will live off that season for years to come.
