Keays and a second rounder. I'd laugh if it actually happened.Ok now that we will finish below Port, how do we do the deal and keep our first

Yep. They are still a long way from demonstrating they are anything more than a training ground for the best players and a dumping ground for others. Playing in front of their nothing crowds would be bloody dispiriting if you have any real talent. All the talk about Gold Coast building. They did play some very nice footy, but when finals was there for the taking they have folded like a deck of cards, as they have done throughout their history. If you had to bet on it, it’s hard to see them keeping both Rowell and Anderson. Let’s see where they’ll be compared to us in 3 years time…
tbh. I'd say no to that trade. They’d need to give up Rankine and lukoius and a first rounder for Fog, even that might not be enough in my eyes
Assuming we're not interested in breaking up our first round pick, getting Brisbane involved as a third party is the main option, unless Alwin Jnr becomes a top 2 pick in the next month or so, seeing Wardlaw is a likely pick 1.
Second option would be to get involved in any big trade going on and be the third party to provide some picks. That said, we don't have a lot of draft capital for this year (only 1x 1st and 1x 2nd), and regular next year, and likely anyone we're trading out isn't going to move that needle.
Third option would be hope someone worthwhile gets poached (not us asking them to seek out a trade).
Fourth option would be to gamble on us improving in 2023 and offer that first round pick.
Fifth is hope the Suns are idiots. They have history of that at least.
That said, I'd put our chances of retaining that first round pick as pretty low.
tbh. I'd say no to that trade.
I really hope this is the caseI think with GCS having so many picks this year, it will be our 2023 1st and hopefully something coming back
I don't think anything would be enough. Key forwards who can kick that straight are so rare.Anderson and Rankine perhaps

Yeah.... But giving up Fogarty right now though feels like something that we'd regret for 10 yearsAnderson and Rankine perhaps

Didn't they do that with Martin and sent him directly to the PSD so Carlton got him for nothing lol. This has the makings of the Suns “line in the sand” trade. Lucky us!

Future 1st for Rankine.Ok now that we will finish below Port, how do we do the deal and keep our first
I dont know that the suns will want to risk it and get our 1st next year.. they’d probably rather go for our 1st this year as its a known.Future 1st for Rankine.
That should satisfy Gold Coast.
They’ll probably be able to deal with Brisbane to swap their bunch of 2nd round picks for Brisbane’s 1st.
Suns have 3 academy kids in the first two rounds next year. Two of those likely first rounders with one a potential top 5. They are going to need a lot of pointsI dont know that the suns will want to risk it and get our 1st next year.. they’d probably rather go for our 1st this year as its a known.
anything could happen with another preseason of burgess.. FOG continues on at the start of next year like he has in the second half of this year.. tex doesnt miss the first three games like he did this year.. all our youth have another years experience and another preseason.. Rankine in..
who knows where it takes us.
they can have our first this year.. take Phillipou with it.. then we’ll trade him back off them in a couple of years when he struggles to get a game in a side with a massively stacked midfield!…
love to try and pinch Hollands off em too!..
Are they exempt from the top 40 NGA rule?Suns have 3 academy kids in the first two rounds next year. Two of those likely first rounders with one a potential top 5. They are going to need a lot of points
Yes. NSW and Qld academy picks don't come under that rule, same as F/S.
Utter bullshit thatYes. NSW and Qld academy picks don't come under that rule, same as F/S.
All the more reason as to why we should not be offering our first this year. Our first this year should be off the table, we need to use it to grab the best mid available while we have the chance to grab a top 5 talent. As you said, next year we could jump up the ladder and we end up with pick 10.I dont know that the suns will want to risk it and get our 1st next year.. they’d probably rather go for our 1st this year as its a known.

Wasn't Jack Martin their line in the sand trade? This has the makings of the Suns “line in the sand” trade. Lucky us!
