I don't think the physical attributes will ever be an issue with JHF, it's the mental side.

He seems a little fragile mentally.

The will perhaps go as he gets more experience as well, but I think this is his beggest hurdle.
I never saw him like this at sanfl level. I think he's genuinely not happy even at port.

Are you always this late to the party?

I retracted pages ago.

Big weekend!
So yes way late to the party.
Good to see you repented.
Perhaps we are seeing enough signs of positivity from this group that your commentary will move more to the middle.

He is a bit like Rachele. Wants to dominate straight away and frustrated that he can’t/is held back
Watching the showdown - not a big call but JHF will be a showdown beast in a couple of years. Just immature at the moment

Fortunately we have a few of our own

I don't know, some kids enter the system and completely change.

I feel like he's battling a bit mentally and it would do him good to perhaps see someone.

I don't think it's just hating losing or wanting to be better.

He's had a crowd in Victoria boo him and he's routinely targeted by teams for trash talk or a bit of niggle. Will be interesting to see if the Sydney players get into him as well.

This is alot to handle for a 19 year old and he doesn't seem to be handling it well.

I might well. I've been desperate for genuine hope in this football club for a long time.

I suspect that the more immediate recalibration that I'll have to do was my significant overrating of the current strength of the Port Adelaide midfield / team, though I remain unwaivering in my view that JHF will be a gun.

Let's see how it plays out over time- every chance we get done this week and our start to the year is still very difficult. Port might be trash.

Having said that, if we end the year by evening the ledger whilst having a top four pick for that star midfielder I'll probably be pretty happy.

Probably has something to do with getting booed in pretty much every game they play.

I don’t understand the people knocking JHF football ability. He’s a 2nd year player, go back and watch the game again, nearly every time he touches the ball something good happens; he will be an absolute gun and I am annoyed that we will have to play against that bloke for another 10-15 years of showdowns. I just hope we can keep hold of Rachele, Soligo for the entirety of their careers.

Looking at the two teams, I personally think we will be further ahead of Port in a few years. They have some extremely silky midfielders in JHF and Rozzee, after that the drop off is quite significant.

Who is knocking JHF's football ability? It's his attitude and effort after already murmur at both clubs and let's hope Rachele and Soligo (they are from country Victoria aren't they??) turn out to be like Sloane and not Dangerfield and play at one club.

Haven’t seen anyone knock his ability, just his discipline and work ethic.

This is 100% what I think too, there seems to be a few red flags above the shoulders with JHF.

David King pointed out again where he stopped to a walk and didn't chase after he was beaten in a one on one contest. That's the 2nd time in three weeks that's it been pointed out, not to mention all the times it happened at North.

The fact that North ended up moving him on after 12 months is something that we shouldn't ignore. No one on their right mind does that with a number 1 pick unless there was some serious concerns about his attitude.

He seems to have a bit of a troubled vibe to him and I wouldn't be shocked if he one day pull the pin on his career at a young age due to mental health issues.

JHF will be a very good player in time. He's nothing special right now though so Im going to enjoy it while it lasts.

A lot is going to depend on his attitude/work ethic and how he can handle the constant pressure and scrutiny that will be on him, ultimately it's going to come down to how badly he wants it.

He's now on a massive contract and has a shit tonne of pressure from the public, opposition players and the AFL media due to his acrimonious exit from North Melbourne.

That type of pressure on a kid with issues often doesn't end well.

Yeah, I saw Rachele do that too.

Seriously, JHF will be one of the best players in the league within 3-4 years.

Folks need to take the Crows colored glasses off.

I've noticed Rachele do that in the forward line last year but he has a totally different mindset playing in the midfield, he really like to hunt down the opposition and lay strong tackle.

Well how many other no 1 draft picks have left a club after 1 year?

In some respects, he has bought this on himself. Yes, I know he is only 19 but if the PAFC had any to do with him leaving then it is their duty and responsibility to look after his welfare.
