Would be good to see us try to develop him more as a ruck/forward than the other way around.

Do we even have a ruck coach? Or does Phil Harper have that job too?
This is what I am hoping.

We need a young Ruck to challenge RoB out of his spot.

As RoB did Jacobs.

On those highlights imagine the difference in general play.

A ruck that can mark and kick a footy like he wasn't a tourist on his second day in the country, we won't know what to do with ourselves

Reckon they Give NMurray minimum 2 SANFL games after the reco...

Hope he re-captures his 2023 pre injury form, was looking one of if not the most improved player in our team.
I think Nurray and Rankine will both be back for the Swans game

Will be a welcome boost

Can't have the line being buried 🤣

If he is a ruck. It's exactly how we should use the MSD

will be nice to have a developing ruck on the list.

Good luck to him. Has obviously shown enough and done what the club was hoping he'd do for the first half of the season in the SANFL. If he has the appetite for the contest anything like his brother, it will be great having him on board. Very good size and only 20 years old. Reads more as a key position prospect rather than a ruck? I wonder if the club moves back to the 2 rucks/key forward system when Thilthorpe gets back as opposed to the Jacobs/O'Brien era of having the 1st Ruck being on field 85% of the time and playing only that position. It seems even Strauchan, as the current back up, is that style of player.

So Murray and Butts the two Key defenders?
Think it will depend on how tall the opposition forward line is as to whether we play Keane as 2nd or 3rd tall.

Toby is not your man then, he's more a forward than a ruckman.

Unless his ruckwork elevates along with his strength I don't see him as a lead ruck, more a KPF that's a better option than Gollant/Borlase/Burgess as a decent chop out option. I'm pretty sure we see him as the Himmelberg replacement who it seems we are convinced he's on the move. i.e. excellent depth.

Didn't take the club long to add him to the player list. (Key Forward 20 200cm)

Happy with this. Should have a good mentor in how to be professional from his brother who come on in leaps & bounds. From what I've seen he's raw but looks to have the tools to be something. No guarantees but we definitely can use the extra ruck depth as it doesn't seem like club trusts Strachan to ever be the man so to speak. Combo in the future of Thilthorpe & Murray could potentially be anything.

The good news is he has already been in our system so knows the program and has been exposed to our fitness regime (whether thats good or bad is another question I guess) so he should be better conditioned than if he was coming from outside of the AFL system. Therefore he might be a chance to crack the seniors at some stage this year and with his skillset, he would offer a point of difference to ROB - although won't have the same body strength in the contest yet.

Whilst Toby is predominantly a key forward, I rate his rucking to already be better than Gollant and Burgess and not far behind Himmelberg. Since the Berg is still a couple of weeks away, it would not surprise me if Toby gets a game against Richmond if Burgess fails to fire against the Hawks.

Unlike some others, I thought Burgess was O.K. against the Eagles with 9 disposals, 1 goal, 3 goal assists and 4 hit outs but this week will be a better indication if he can play the role.
