Traded Jack Steele [traded to St Kilda for 2017 second rounder]

I think a fair range for Steele would be pick 11-18 with a second or a third rounder back.

Most clubs in finals this year would be willing for this kind of deal on Steele.

You have to look at the team he is trying to break into, Not to mention his NEAFL form (I have a lot of interest in the NEAFL as a sydneysider). I actually rate him quite highly from an outsiders perspective.
But he has managed to break into the side, for 17 games and averaged less than 15 touches. He's been solids but I'm not sure he demands a first round pick.

A late first at best, which we don't have.

In those games he hasn't exactly had a ton of midfield time. In addition, if you compare him to Petracca, Petracca averages 2.5 disposals more per game, but 1.5 tackles less per game. In a young player, you can't exactly use disposals to say a players worth, especially where they have been played on the field.

A late first at best, which we don't have.

I would probably have him at the 15-20 range realistically.

What's with the massive wraps around this kid? Do I always miss the games he plays well in, or is it an upside kind of deal?

Agree with you about the stats, I am basing my opinion of the games I've seen him play, which while impressive, he's not worth giving up our first round pick for, which is what I was originally arguing.

A pick around the 20 mark seems fair to me, I haven't seen anything to suggest he's worth any more. I suggested earlier our second next year and a third but was told the third would be useless to GWS. Unfortunately that's just bad luck IMO as we'd be silly to give up our first for him.

I don't think he will yield a late first rounder for GWS, probably an early second at best. Sure he might be worth a pick in the 12-19 range but with Prestia, Mitchell, O'meara on the market, he becomes much less attractive as the 4th best player in this position in the market. Especially in a draft filled with younger and better midfielders than he is, this is probably the worst year for awhile to Steele.

GWS have played him as a half forward in the ones, which is not his natural role at all.

Would think he is between say 18-25 pick wise based on pre draft hype and some performances at the top level.

I wouldn't mind Richmond have a crack at him.

You just said you havnt watched much of him. And base your decision on possession numbers.

He has. Watch a lot of him and rates him significantly higher

You disregard an entire league to keep a valuation which favours Saints.

He advised you of other young players that have done well in afl that previously played in neafl.
I base it on his AFL output, not his NEAFL output.
We have plenty of players tearing up the VFL because they are good VFL players.
On Steeles afl form I can't see how he's worth a first round pick.

Would like port to have a look and would be interested in trading next years 1st or 2nd for him. If GWS are interested I would trade the 1st pick for him and another player or pick.

One thing is for sure who ever gets him will be getting a bargain....
Pretty much, I imagine.

We have something that no other club has though that ought to get us over the line and that's a Jack Pack for him to join!

You know it's right, Jack.

Then we'll use our first rounder in the draft on Jack Scrimshaw!

Personally I would think you need to look at both considering his age. Many gun players start off with getting developed in the 2s in there first 2 season. You are welcome to your own opinion though.

I'm sure saints will get him at a good deal if they do. They have dominated trades & targets lately with Bruce, membrey, carslile/Gresham to name a few. Gws are also win/win traders

You guys don't know Jack!

but where has this been said? I mustve missed something
Someone on SEN who is based in Sydney and meant to be well in the know up there said yesterday that him to us is as good as a done deal and Brett Anderson also mentioned him to us being likely in a Tweet today.

Now they may be off the mark, but that's obviously the mail they have.

So going by that he absolutely dominates the NEAFL and doesn't do much at AFL level.
I'll be very surprised if it's anything higher than our 2017 second rounder (around pick 30 probably).

You do realise he has as good or better stats in the AFL then your young guns Gresham, Acres, etc... Haha, I could go on. So all of your good young players are worth about pick 30 or worse?

gresham averages 0.2 less disposals then him and hes been playing as a small forward most the years, acres averages 2 more touches a game then him wtf lol
