News Jackson Hately requests trade to Adelaide

We need to send him to the PSD and get him for Free, The AFL have f’ed us over too many times, it's about time we got something at a lower cost
That's a bit harsh on GWS who have not really screwed us over. I would certainly expect to get him for a bit less than his fair market value, given our PSD leverage. But I'd be happy enough to give them a mid-late 2nd round pick (late 20s - early 30s) for him. But certainly make a stand on that value and go the PSD route if they try to dig their heels in for a better pick like they are on Caldwell.

Matt Rendell calling us to use Pick 23 for Hatley and get on with it.

Get on with what? We've got nothing else on our plate, can wait all week. If this not even a sideshow is holding up other stuff, that's not our problem. Maybe GWS should just accept whatever we offered and get on with it.

I doubt we have offered anything yet. We aren't that organised. We will probably get around to it on Wednesday. GWS will say no. Thursday we will panic and give up more than we should have.

It's utterly predictable how inept we are.

If we give up anything that starts with single digits, 1 or a 2 then we have given up too much. This is one time we DO have a strong hand. Any chance we use it?

In before we trade pick 9 to Port Adelaide for picks 29, 35 and 47 then trade pick 35 and a future 3rd for Hately

Possibly, GWS probably think we're their best chance to ameliorate expected Cameron unders. They've probably demanded 9 and we're working out how to complicate it, so it's doesn't look too bad. Should be able to blame overpaying on Brad somehow. If we got 2 for Brad, paying 9 for Hately would have been perfectly fine. ****ing Brad ****ing Crouch.

what possible reason do we have to do any deal now? Once you’ve done it you can’t go back. What if later in the week Sydney want to do a deal with us but we needed whatever we gave GWS for Hately.
we can do this deal with 5 minutes to go and if GWS don’t like it then don’t do any deal at all and take home in the PSD.

I'm fully expecting a press release with something like this;

"We are thrilled to secure a rising talent in Jackson Hately and to bring him to the Adelaide Football Club. Jackson is a 20 year old midfielder who we see as having a long term future at the Crows. After being pick 14 in the 2019 draft, and having played 13 games in the strong GWS team this year, we believe that a trade of pick 9 was only fair and reasonable compensation. It is important that our supporters remember that drafting and trading needs to be seen as a whole entity and given we plan many years in advance, should be judged as a package over several years. We also want to thank GWS for their fair and reasonable negotiation. We appreciate the difficulty they have had over the years in losing so many players and are pleased we could assist them with a win-win on this occasion."

We should be under no pressure to get the deal done. No other pressing deals to crack on with... surely we just wait for the Caldwell deal and a few other big deals to drop first?

Pick 23 shouldn’t be anywhere near it and even Pick 33 is on the generous side of “fair” given the situation we’re in.

I think they’re all getting bored because the trade period is far too long and they’ve got too many minutes of air time to fill with nothingness and opinion.

oh I don't disagree.

just annoyed that the narrative is already turning on us paying overs for a player coming in, after again getting unders on the way out.

Give up pick 9 and we burn the place down.

They've done a pretty good job of burning the place down by themselves.

Our ladder position, our list, our training facilities, our image in the public eye, etc.

The club is FUBAR.

And use pick 1 to bring in another undersized Tasmanian midfielder.....

Not pick 1 but no problems at all with drafting clearance King Ollie Davis..
